“Uphaar”(1971) was a Rajshree Productions movie. It was directed by Sudhendu Roy. Rajshree Productions had hit upon the formula of signing up newcomers for their movies instead of big stars. They relied on great music and heartwarming storyline to attract movie goers and this formula served them well for nearly a quarter of a century.

“Mili” (1975) was a copy of “Anand” (1971) which in turn was a copy of a Japanese award winning movie that Hrishikesh Mukherji had seen in a film festival sometime in late 1960s. I do not now remember the name of this movie but I had read about it in magazines of 1970s. I request other readers to tell me the name of this movie which inspired these movies.

Hrishikesh Mukherjee had watched a Japanese movie, which depicts a man who has only a few days to live but instead of being melancholic, he lives his life cheerfully and spreads happiness all around him. Hrishikesh Mukherjee liked that movie so much that he adpated the movie into Hindi and created “Anand” (1970). Not content with that, he re adapted the same adaptation to change the gender of the main character and he thus came up with “Mili” (1975). Both these movies were critically well acclaimed and well received by the ordinary movie watchers as well.

It has been variously said that there is a song in Hindi movies for practically any occasion, any situation, any profession, in short, there is a song for probably just anything. One just has to look for it long enough. The list of categories of songs on this blog itself is evidence that there are absolutely zany and unthinkable situations for which there are songs in Hindi movies. So, is there a song for cleaning dishes? I am sure there are more than one song in domestic or business situations wherein dishes are being cleaned with music and singing. How about cleaning dishes and utensils to classical music? :D)

We often read about real life following reel life and vice versa. I am not talking about movie actors playing roles based on some other real life people. I am talking of the actors playing their own real life stories on the silver screen. There have been quite a few cases where actors enacted their own real life stories in movies.
