This series was basically inspired by an article on the blog ‘Pancham and Only Pancham’ – and the title of the article is ‘Tribute to Rafi Sahab on 28th Death Anniversary‘, published on Rafi Sb’s twenty-eighth ‘Remembrance Anniversary’ on 31.07.2008. “Jugnu” (1947) was a major Hindi movie in many ways. It was Noorjehaan’s last Hindi movie. It was this movie which gave us Dilip Kumar, who till then was a struggler. Noorjahaan acting opposite Dilip Kumar gave Dilip Kumar’s career a big fillip and he never looked back since.

This song is one of those songs that had a tremendous influence on me as a young teenager kid. I had no idea what movie this song was from, but I would have dearly loved to watch this movie.

Though I have seen the movie “Jugnu” (1973), I do not much remember the songs of this movie. While looking for deewali songs, I found that this movie indeed has a deewali song, and that too a happy deewali song. I wonder how I do not remember this song despite watching this movie.
