‘व’
“वो चाँद सा चेहरा लिए, छत पर तेरा आना”
tu raat khadi thi chhat pe
nee main samjha ke chaand nikla
There is something so uniquely desi about this romantic element – ‘chhat pe’ – ‘on the rooftop’ scenario. No where the western writer has thought of ascending to the terrace, bring in the soubriquet of the moon, and then let the verse take over from there. On the subcontinent, so much romance seems to have happened on the terrace, in the pages of prose and in the lines of verse.

OK, back again, even a longer absence this time. About these gaps, the less I say is better, because everything sounds like an old story. So I will let it be. 🙂

Each and everyone of us is required to do some work for a living. Often one needs to give one’s best while working. But then there are government jobs where one can seemingly get away by doing poor quality work. “Doing work takes effort whether you do a good quality work or a poor quality work, so why not do a good quality work by taking some extra pains and avoid the bad name that you may get due to your poor quality”-This is an advice that I give to everyone who cares to listen.

Missing Films of 1960s – 19
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
We are now getting close to the end of 1962. The next film from that year which is being introduced today is ‘Sher Khan’. The film and its songs are available on the internet, and have been for some time now. Apparently, we just did not get around to bringing up here, the songs from this film. Probably it is the obscurity of the film and its title, and the level of unfamiliarity that the team may have with this film and its songs. With music by SN Tripathi, the songs of this film are very good. Once we get to hear them, then the mind wonders – where have these been hiding so far. But anyway, we are getting to them now, and that is a good thing.
