This day ten years ago (viz on date 25 september 2020), six songs from six movies were covered in the blog. The first article was published at 6:50 AM whereas it was 8:59 when the sixth post of the day appeared in the blog.

Recently,(12th of July’2020 to be precise) the blog saw the 5000th song from the decade 1951-1960 covered on the blog.
This ‘melodious decade’ has around ten thousand songs (as per HFGK) and if we look from that point of view we are just at the ‘half-way mark’ (or little above now as the songs are getting added frequently to this decade, thanks to the collaboration of our team members and also because of projects like Blog Ten Year Challenge.

The first song from 1941 was posted at 6:54 AM while the sixth and final song from a movie of 1971 was posted at 8:49 AM. Today’s song is from film Daku ki Ladki-54. I remember, there was a film in 1933 with the same title, featuring Sulochana, Dinshaw Bilimorea, Ghulam Mohd. Hadi etc. In that film, Ghulam Mohd. had done the role of the Daku, Sulochana was Daku’s Ladki and Dinshaw was the Police Officer.Ghulam Mohd. was known as ” The Prince of Imperial Film Company”, in those days.

Today’s song is from the film Chingari-1955. There were 4 films made with the same title – in 1940, 1955, 1988 and 2006. There was a dubbed film with a title ” Chingari Jawani” in 2003. I am still trying to understand its meaning !
During the second world war period many commodities like Petrol, Kerosene,foods as well as Raw film for making films went into shortage. Most essential items were controlled by the British government. The supply of raw film especially affected the film industry. Depending on the past history of making films by the film makers,” Quota “s were fixed at Government rates. Also, the govt. started a scheme of ” war effort promotion films”. Those films which promoted British efforts for the war in some way or the other, used to get extra Raw film supply at control rates. Many producers took advantage of this scheme and films like ” Panna”-44 and ” Badi Maa”-45 etc were made as ” War effort Promotion films” and got more Raw films.

Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, one half of the music director Laxmikant-Pyarelal was born on 03/09/1940. So that makes this 80th Birthday of the one of the most proficient, successful and talented musicians of the golden era of hindi film music. It is a well-known fact that both Laxmikant and Pyarelaljistarted their career as players of music instruments in the song recordings. If I am not mistaken, Pyarelalji, was a violinist.
