I have listened to this song many a times. This song is regarded as an evergreen Mukesh-Lata duet. This song is from “Hariyali aur raasta”. I have already posted two songs (which are equally evergreen) from this movie in this blog.

Mukesh, known for singing memorable sad songs, has also sung some memorable happy/romantic songs. In fact, Mukesh’s voice sounded like that of a man who wore his feelings on his sleeve, whatever the nature of the song. Perhaps the listeners regarded him as common man’s voice.

Wow, what a song ! I have listened to this song many a times even though I did not have an inkling about which movie this song was from, or even who the singers were. I thought that Mukesh and Lata were the singers. But I find now that the female voice is Suman Kalyanpur. I think Suman Kalyanpur has sung similar number of songs as Mukesh and she had a Mukesh like midas touch too. A large number of her songs have gone on to become very popular, just like how it was with Mukesh.
