“Aagosh” (1953) was a movie starring Nasir Khan (Dilip Kumar’s brother), Nutan,Shakeela, Agha etc. Today this movie may not be much known, but its songs were quite popular during its time.

I just realised that today 31st october is S D Burman’s death anniversary.He was born on the first of october, 1906 and he died on 31st of october 1975.

“Dilli Ka Thug” (1958) was the first movie where Kishore Kumar worked with Ravi and their maiden collaboration gave us some memorable songs that are remembered even to this day.

One of the category of songs that are found quite commonly in Hindi movies is what I call “Chhaayaageet” songs. These are romantic songs where words like “chaand”, “raat etc. are used quite generously. The best time to listen to such songs are at late night when the world in asleep and one can see the moom in the sky in its full glory.

“Sujata” (1959) had some very nice songs in it that covered various stages of lives, different kinds of feelings etc.
For instance, this movie has one of most well known luallabies of all time, viz. Nanhi kali sone chali hawa dheere aana. Picturisation of this lullaby shows Sulochana singing this lullaby to babies who grow up to become Shashikala and Nutan respectively.

Nutan played a tragedy role in “Seema” (1955) and with that she stole a march over Meena Kumari in the race for becoming the first tragedy queen of Hindi movies.

“Chhabili” (1960) was a movie that Shobhana Samarth had produced to launch the career of her second daughter, viz Tanuja. One decade ago, she had similarly launched the career of Nutan, her eldest daughter with a movie called “Hamaari Beti” (1950).
