Indian films have seen many jodis (meaning duos) of writers, music directors, actors, actresses, hero-heroine etc. Something about these duos or pairs or jodis make them appealing in the minds of movie-watchers. Can we think of Dilip Kumar sans Madhubala, Raj Kapoor sans Nargis, Dharmendra sans Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan sans Shashi Kapoor or Vinod Khanna or Rishi Kapoor or many of the actresses that he was regularly paired with? Similarly we think of Salim Khan & Javed Akhtar in the same breath as also Husnlal-Bhagatram, Kalyanji- Anandji and Shankar- Jaikishan. What I have mentioned are pairs in Hindi films, I am sure there would have been & will be such pairs in films of other languages too and all of which were popular once upon a time & are still recalled fondly. When we speak of these pairs we cannot think of one without the other.

Today’s song is from the film Lehren-1953. It was made by ” New Sai Productions” Bombay. It was a film production company floated by C.Ramchandra, his close friend actor Omprakash and Lata Mangeshkar. They produced Jhanjhar-1953, Leharen-1953 and Duniya gol hai-1955 ( directed by Omprakash himself.) These films were neither successful nor their music became popular.

8th September – Birthday of Asha Bhonsle
————————————————————-
There are 25 songs tagged as ‘Tasweer’ (https://atulsongaday.me/category/tasweer-song/) song in the blog. Some of the stellar songs have missed the tag and have given a miss to the tag of ‘Tasweer’. I have listed a few such songs which I can refer to off-hand:
Tasweer Banaata Hoon Tasweer Nahin Banti
I feel as if some more significant songs are missing from my list above as well as the tagged page. So, the list is incomplete.
A ‘tasveer’ is something which tells a story. Be it a still image, a painting, a motion picture or mural. Imaginary or factual, reflection in reverse or converse. Not always needing a camera to capture it, just a glance is indelible sometimes. Moments captured in memory forever.

Today’s song is from the film ‘Road No. 303’ (1960).
This film was special in many respects. Let’s start with it’s title. Among the total of 3240 Talkie films made in the first 30 years of Hindi films (1931-1960), only 19 Hindi films had titles which actually had numbers in their Titles. The first one to have a numerical figure in its title was Miss 1933 (1933) and the last one to have it was today’s film Road No. 303 (1960). Just for information of our readers, there were 7 such film titles in the 1930’s (total films 924), only 4 such film titles in the 1940’s (total films 1191) and 8 such film titles in the 1950’s (total films 1125). There were hundreds of film titles having figures in words, like ‘Ek Thi Ladki’, ‘Do Gunde’, ‘Teen Batti Char Rasta’ etc. but numbers in titles were a novelty.

Today’s song is a comedy song from the film ‘Madmast’ (1953).
The film was made by Sweet Pictures. Produced and directed by Jagdish Pant, the film had music by V Balsara. Jagdish Pant seems to be a director by hobby, because he directed only one more film i.e. ‘Padosi’ (1971), which was also produced by himself. The cast of the film ‘Madmast’ (1953) was Nirupa Roy, Shashikala, Sapru, Nazir, Ansari, Shakeela and others. 7 songs were written by Madhuraj aka Madhukar Rajasthani, 2 by Manav, 1 by the director Jagdish Pant himself and one chorus song is left without name credit.
