It has been over eight years now that we started this series for the songs picturised on actor Junior Mehmood. Today’s song is from the historic film Prithvi Vallabh-1943.

This is a real Historic story on which there was also a Silent movie “Prithvi Vallabh aka The Lord of Love and Power”, made by Ashoka Pictures, Baroda (Gujarat) in 1925. Its story was the same as today’s film. The film was important because India’s first woman Director and Producer Fatima Begum had acted in it, along with 2 of her 3 daughters-Zubeida and Sultana. Zubeida went on to become the Heroine of India’s first Talkie film Aalam Ara-1931. After 18 years of the silent movie, Sohrab Modi’s Minerva Movietone made this film again in 1943.

Today’s song is from the film Mahapooja aka Shri Satyanarayan Katha-1954.

Marriage fixed, New House Entry, New Job, Promotion, Shravan Maas, any Happy event in life and we always celebrate by doing a ‘Satyanarayan Pooja’. It is one of the most popular and common pooja that is performed in all over India, except 2-3 states. Satyanarayan is NOT an Avatar of Lord Shri Vishnu. It is just another form of Vishnu.

Today’s song is from the film Subah Ka Tara (1954).

Today’s song is a special song. Firstly, it is the last song of this film to appear here, thus making this film an “YIPPEE” film and secondly it is my 1234th post on this Blog ( it is a serial number 1-2-3-4, for those readers who need an explanation.).

Today’s song is from the film Dhoomketu (1949).

There was one more film having the same title in 1985, but that film had a credible story dealing with some scientific research etc. However today’s film was only a C grade stunt film and had nothing to do with Astronomy or any other science. It was a plain, simple, predictable stunt film. Dhoomketu (Comet) is the name of the film’s Hero. In my entire life I have never come across such a name in any language or any state of India. Hats off to the story writer of this film.

Hullo Atuldom

For this post I have a song from an absolutely new film. I thought it was a brand new film, but as of 24th June, the movie is an year old. I didn’t know it was already a year since it was released. The movie was on my wish-list, and I don’t know what happened, why I didn’t go to a cinema hall to see it. I am sure a few in Atuldom would have seen it.

‘Yuva’ (2004) was produced by Mani Ratnam and G Srinivasan under the banner of Madras Talkies and was directed by Mani Ratnam. The film was simultaneously shot in Tamil as ‘Aaytha Ezhuthu’ (2004) with a different cast.
