“Amaanat” (1955) was a Bimal Roy Production. It was directed by Arvind Sen. The movie had Bharat Bhushan, Chand Usmani, Ashim Kumar, Pran, Nazir Hussain, Asha Mathur, Kanhaiyalal, Achla Sachdev, Asit Sen etc in it.

“Pyaar Ka Bandhan” (1963) was an N S Films Production. It was produced and directed by Naresh Saigal. The movie had Raaj Kumar, Nishi, Kumari Naaz, Dhumal, Indira Bansal, Helen, Johnny Walker, Mahendra, Jagdish Raj, Raju, Radheshyam, Sudesh Kumar, C. S. Aasie, Hari Mehta, Munshi Munakka, Pratima Devi, Kewal Kumar etc in it.

I have heard this song many a times but I was not aware of its details till recently. It is only just now that I have come to know that this song is from “Saawan Ki Ghata” (1966). The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. The music is composed by O P Nayyar.

“Aansoo aur Muskaan” (1971) is a movie that most people (or at least I) remember for just one reason, viz Kishore Kumar’s fantastic comedy song Guni janon bhakt janon.

I have noticed that older Hindi movies (early 1950s and before) were far more liberal and open minded than the movies that followed. For instance, many scenes that began to be looked down upon as against Indian culture (viz kissing, swimming etc) were quite common in earlier movies. These days, movie makers spend huge amounts trying to promote their movies, and still there is no guarantee that their promotions have any effect at the box office. All the songs and dances shown in these promos are often ineffective.
