Mere bhaiyya ko sandeshaa pahunchaanaa

Today (24th August,2010) is the Indian festival of rakshabandhan, or Raakhi in brief. This is a festival when sisters tie Raakhi on the wrists of their brothers and the brother then vows to protect his sister.
This is the third Raakhi for this blog. On the first Raakhi (in 2008), I had posted the iconic Rakhi song ( Bhaiyya mere raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhaana(Chhoti Bahan)(1959)) sung by Lata and the next year I had posted another iconic song , this time sung by Suman Kalyanpur ( Bahnaa ne bhaayi ki kalaayi se pyaar baandhaa hai (Resham Ki Dori)(1974) ).
This time I wanted to post more “Raakhi” songs but then I thought that there were very few “Raakhi” songs created in Hindi movies and I wondered if I would be able to post about six “Raakhi” songs. I was delighted to find that I was in fact able to find more than six “Raakhi” songs. So I find myself being able to post my daily quota of six songs on this Raakhi day.
Here is the first Raakhi song of the day. It is from a movie called “Didi” (1959). This song is written by Sahir Ludhianvi and its music is composed by N Datta. Lata is the singer and this song is lip synced on the screen by Jaishree Gadkar. The picturisation also shows Sunil Dutt, Shubha Khote and an Irani kid (Daisy Irani, I guess). I request my readers to confirm/refute the names of the actors on whom this song is picturised seeing that I am a pushover when it comes to identifying actresses of 1950s.
This is a song that I had never heard before. And I must say that I loved this song the very first time I got to listen to it.

She is Jayashree, (V.Shantaram’s former wife)

You are right Diwaka ji , it is not Jayashree Gadkar, It is Jayashree(shantaram`s 2nd wife and Rajashree(Janwar fame)`s mother), Atul ji Please correct the artiste lip syncing for this song is not Jayashree Gadkar, it is JAYASHREE SHANTARAM
