As per HFGK Lachak-1951 had music by Pt. Motiram. I am confused. Can you please solve this issue ?”

Made by Basant Pictures, Bombay, owned by Homi Wadia, it was directed by John Cavas, who was also the Hero of this film. The others in the cast were Leela, Dalpat, Azeem, Shyamsunder, Saleem, kareem etc. Lyricist Shyam Hindi wrote the songs which were composed by the Melody Master Chitragupta.

There are movies that are well made with good story line. I, who considered myself as a moviegoer with highbrow taste ( 🙂 ) liked such movies. For example, I liked movies like Sholay, Deewaar, Don etc. Then there are movies with silly story lines that low brow audiences liked but I did not.

Some of these silly story line movies went on to become big hits whereas some movies flopped.

The cast of this movie had Nirupa Roy, Manhar Desai, Prem Adib, Shanta Apte, Malay Sarkar, Sapru, Pande, Sangeeta, Narbada Shankar, Hansraj, Sudheer, Moni Chatterjee and others. ‘Chandi Pujaa or Chandi Poojaa-1957’ was passed by Censor Board on 19.07.1957. Geet Kosh Vol-III (1951-1960) mentions in the foot-note on the page of this movie that this movie ‘Chandi Pujaa’ was the last movie of actress Shanta Apte.

The film was made by Flora Films, Bombay, directed by Sudhir Sen. Ninu Mujumdar had given music to the songs written by D.N.Madhok.The cast was Shah nawaz, Pahadi Sanyal, Bikram Kapoor, E.Billimorea, Agha, Anil Kumar, Sunetra, Gulab, Motibai, Ratan piya and many others. The film was released on 12-7-1946. The dance director of this film was Prof. K.S.More (Moray/Morey), who had married the upcoming dancer Cuckoo.
