Most people are aware of the movie called “Nadiya Ke Paar” (1982) which was a Rajshree Productions movie. There was another movie of the same name that was released as far back as in 1948. This movie “Nadiya Ke Paar” (1948) was in fact a bigger budget movie and a mainstream movie unlike “Nadiya Ke Paar” (1982). “Nadiya Ke Paar” (1948) starred Dilip Kumar and Kamini Kaushal and by most indications, it was a commercial success.

By now, most music lovers who are a regular of this blog must have come to the same conclusion about Chitragupta as I have concluded- that he was a grossly underrated and underutilised music director. “Johar Mehmood in Goa” (1965), as the title suggests, is a movie starring I S Johar and Mehmood. The two go to Goa in a bid to liberate it. Yes, Goa was still under Portuguese occupation till 1961 while the rest of India had got independence in 1947 itself. It was in 1961, when it finally became a part of India.

To the best of my knowledge, there have been two movies called “Jhoola”. The earlier one was released in 1942 and the later one came in 1962. These two movies may have been forgotten , but the music of both these movies are wonderful to listen to.
