Hullo to Atuldom
Its been a few weeks since I wrote a post. I have missed the birthdates of a few of my favourites. I won’t put the blame of these misses on the festival season as then we will have to excuse Atulji his numerous blank dates on the blog which we don’t do; we expect at least one post per day from him.

Amitabh Bachhchan, the star of the Millennium, was born in the than Allahabad (which is the English name of city named Ilahbad in Urdu) on 11.10.1942. His given name is Inquilab Srivastava, as per Wikipedia. This is a surprise for me and surely for many people, as a never heard fact. Also has the distinction of acting as the hero in the film ‘Inquilab’ not named after him :-). His father did name him after the slogan of freedom movement “Inquilab Zindabad”. I have never heard of anyone named ‘inquilab’, but have a friend named ‘Kranti’ which is the same thing with change in language only.

Hullo Atuldom
The 80s was a period when there were a whole set of “Made in South” movies. Movies essentially remakes of popular and successful Telugu, Tamil and Kannada movies. Movies with nearly same formula- one hero and two heroines, both ladies loving the hero equally with the hero behaving courteously with one and loving the other passionately. To add further twist, the heroines will be sisters (as in Tohfa), childhood best friends (as in Raaste Pyar Ke), or meet accidentally and become good friends (as in Maang Bharo Sajna and Asha Jyoti).

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 45

The date today 22 september 2019. It is a sunday.
Ten years ago, this date (22 september 2009) was a working day. I was in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Despite that day being a working day, I had covered as many as eight songs on that day. Posting six or more songs in a day used to be no big deal for me.

Today’s song is from film Gharbaar-53. The film was produced by Ratilal Vora for K.Pictures, Bombay.It was directed by Marathi cinema’s famous and successful director Dinkar D. Patil. The cast of the film was Surendra, Manhar Desai, Sulochana Chaterjee, Kuldip Kaur, Shakuntala, Shammi, Baby Naaz, Paro, Kathana, Gope and others. The film’s 8 songs were written by Indivar, Kaif Irfani and D N Madhok. The music was by Vasant Prabhu.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 44

Seven songs were posted ten years ago. The blog was in its childhood – “Bachpan Ke Din Bhi Kya Din The” 🙂 🙂 .

The film is ‘Noorjehaan’ from 1967. Containing eight very wonderful melodies, it is surprising that only three of them have as yet appeared here. With compositions created by the mind of Roshan, there still are very wonderful numbers waiting in the wings for their turn.

“Baghdad Ka Chor”(1955) was Produced by Ram Kumar and directed by Shriram for Madan Chitra, Bombay. This “kaalpnik” (fantasy) movie had Chitra, Daljeet, Krishnakumari, Yashodhara Katju, Naaz, Amrit Rana, Ram Kumar, Sheikh etc in it.

Hullo to Atuldom
Today I have a very difficult task. The task of selecting one song from a possible 5251 (7874-2623 as per the stats page of the blog) is almost like needle in a hay stack. And there will be at least a few thousand popular songs in this 5k of which many will fall in the category of “How come…?”. Some may lead to their movies getting Yyippeeeed and some may introduce a new movie onto the blog.
