The 1960s missing films train continues to chug along. 🙂
In this episode, we bring on board a very obscure film from 1964 – ‘Teen Dost’. The film itself is quite forgotten and the songs of this film are quite a rarity. So far only one record of this film has appeared in public domain, meaning only two songs of this film are available, out of the five songs listed in the Geet Kosh.

We in this blog had two new resolutions and I had decided to stick to them as long as I can. One was to introduce a “new” movie daily and another was to to close the account of another movie by YIPPying it.
We are in may 2017, and both these resolutions have finally seen breaks. For instance, there was no YIPPEE song on 13 may 2017, a day that had only one post, a post that introduced a “new” song. The string on YIPPEE posts was in fact broken a few days earlier on 6 may itself when I posted a song that I thought was YIPPYing its movie but I was wrong. The “new” post string had got broken a while ago.

We all know that Raj Kapoor and Shailendra worked together in lots of movies beginning from “Barsaat”(1949) and ending with “Mera Naam Joker”(1970) and all these had music by Shankar Jaikishan. We in this blog discuss a song only once, we have discussed all the songs in almost all these Raj Kapoor movies. This patently Tear- Jerker film was made by A.A.Nadiyadwala’s Pushpa Pictures and it was directed by P.L.Santoshi who, once upon a time used to be a man with a Magic Wand. Ravi was the music director. Majrooh Sultanpuri was the lyricist. This duet is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Manna Dey. The cast of the film was Sohrab Modi, Nimmi, Rehman, Nanda, Sudesh Kumar, Lalita Pawar, Johnny Walker etc.

Today (4 january 2016) is the 22nd death anniversary of R D Burman ( 27 june 1939- 4 january 1994). I am amazed to realise that more than two decades have elapsed since R D Burman left us. And it is eqaully surprising to realise that he was almost jobless as a music director by the time he died. His last movie as a music director was “1942, a love story” and its music caught the imagination of music lovers, but R D Burman was not there to savour this success.
