When I was a youngster in my teens, I was under the impression that old songs meant boring songs, which were mostly like Ghazal, sad songs etc. But it is only much later that I realised that some wonderful light hearted songs too were created those days. In Bollywood movies of 1950s and 1960s, we had “teasing” songs where the hero would tease the heroine, often too nastily in my view and get away with it, unlike how it is in real life in India, where “eve-teasing” is a serious offence.

“Love in Shimla” (1960), which predates all other “Love in …” movies in Bollwood was the debut movie of Sadhana and Joy Mukherji. And what a superb launch vehicle the two of them had got ! I have not watched the movie, but I have heard and watched a few songs of this movie, and if the songs are any indication, this movie was a great fun movie.
