We normally have a feeling of nostalgia towards the films we watched in our youth. We always love their music, their artists and the general experience we watched while seeing those films in the cinema halls of yore. Sometimes, in newer films, we see tributes being paid to them. Occasionally, we find the tributes a bit insipid leaving us uninspired. However, once in a while, a song makes you really feel good and enjoy it while giving you a feeling of nostalgia. Today’s song is one such song.

Today, December 25, 2025, is the 10th Remembrance Day of Sadhana, the fashion icon of Hindi cinema in the 1960s. She was also called the ‘mystery girl’ because she acted in three mystery genre of films one after another. In her short filmy career of about 15 years, she had a high success ratio in terms of hit films. She worked with top directors like Bimal Roy, Raj Khosla, Yash Chopra, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and H S Rawail. Her co-stars included Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Raj Kumar, Sunil Dutt, Rajesh Khanna and Dharmendra. Sadhana came and conquered the Hindi film industry in the 1960s and by the end of 1970s, she virtually vanished from the film industry.

Today’s song is from the Mythological film Jai Mahadev-1955.
The film produced by Ratlal Vohra, was directed by Ramchandra Thakur. The Music Director was Manna Dey. The cast of the film had as usual, a long list of actors. Some main actors were Nalini Jaywant, Trilok Kapoor, S.N.Tripathi, Dar Kashmiri, Shyam Sunder, Jeevan, Rewa Shankar, Heera Sawant etc etc. There were 4 Guest Artists, which included Umakant Desai (who had done the role of Lakshman in 7 films on Ramayana Stories).
It is very sad that because of intentional wrong education for the last 200 years, we were made to forget all the details of our cultural lifestyles. Thankfully, nowadays some awakening is observed. Hopefully, we should be once again getting all the lost benefits once again.

After covering songs released in 1900s (mostly from 1960s to 1980s), this becomes my first post covering a song released in the current millenium that started from 2000.
Many HF music lovers consider the golden era of HFM as finished in 1970. For me personally, it stopped in 1980. Not that post 1980 there was not good music but it was too few and far between. So if till the 70s decade, every year 7 or 8 movies out of 10 had good music, then it fell down to 4-5 out of 10 in 80s and 2-3 out of 10 during the 90. But post 2000 it became 2-3 out of every 25 movies released. These are entirely my figures from my gut feeling, I don’t attribute them to any study or report. Therefore, you have been seeing my posts from primarily the 60s to the 80s decades.

Remembering Mohammed Rafi Sahab – 101st Birth Anniversary
“Naghmon ka karwaan” is unleashed with this one name. We the Rafians are not in the mood to yet finish the centenary celebrations. The celebrated artist, the legend is celebrated everyday in various forms, through his songs, through the many fans, ever increasing, with newly exposed people. Though all the songs are 4 decades old, but somehow, they never grow old. The younger generation of new fans is ever increasing, and fan clubs abound in the whole world. The musically aware people, when they become aware of the phenomena called Mohammed Rafi, they are surprised and shocked, that where was he, all this while, how come they did not know of him. Then they come to know, that there lived a playback singer in India, who left for heavenly abode on 31st July 1980. But the songs and voice lives on, in the hearts and in the sound waves of the world.
