Hullo Atuldom
I know of a few people who have two birthdays each year. This can be explained as an adjustment for the sake of getting admission in schools which have a condition that the child should have completed 3½ when getting admitted to pre-school, and/or 5½ when the child starts class one in June. June is the time when the academic sessions begin in India and this rule has been in place for ages. So I have two cases for this in my family – my mother’s birth year was changed to comply with admission requirements.
June 1st is a special date for an Atulite who loves to travel. He has traveled to places which offer a lot of adventure and camping attractions. He has chronicled his travel experiences in www.sadanandsafar.blogspot.com.
It is our Sadanand ji’s birthday, a special birthday today. I shall not mention his age as I know him to be rather young at heart – his travels and treks are a testimony to that.
Currently his journey is discovering songs which we have hitherto not heard, Hindi songs which are from Bengali films. This series has given us some great songs. He has a lot of patience to dig out authentic and accurate information from varied sources like past issues of the magazine ‘Film India’ and other sites. He is painstakingly trying to find links. All the best to him in this – may we get more of the same. Here I will admit that his series has made me look out for songs in south Indian movies and a link that our In-house encyclopedia sent me has started that journey for me. I hope that I am able to sustain myself for as long as Sadanandji who has crossed 600 posts on the blog of which 28 posts were of Hindi songs in Bangla films. That is indeed a lot of rummaging through available online and offline material.
He has one more love – pointed out to me by our Avinash ji, whom I brain-stormed with before I sat to write this post. He loves poetry or shaayari as it is called. Avinash ji drew my attention towards Sadanandji’s love for Gopal Das Neeraj. So today we will have a song penned by Neeraj.
I just realized that I should explain my opening paragraph.
Since morning we have been wishing Sadanand ji through WhatsApp and he graciously thanked everyone but added “Thanks for wishing me on my official birthday. My actual birthday is **/07/****” . So that means we get to wish him one more time – ‘duguna wishes’. I am sure that this change in date of birth may have happened at the point of school admissions, am I right Sadanand ji ? As one of my many acquaintances loves to say – “same case as my mother”.
Now I shall move to the song for which I must thank Avinash ji; he has provided me the lyrics in both English and Devanagari (his forte). He also provided me the link to the audio and video and I realized why he suggested this song from “Gunaah” (1993).
I think I have seen this movie ages ago on television and this movie had Sunny Deol, Dimple Kapadia, Sumeet Saigal, Anjana Mumtaz, Shammi, Manohar Singh, Akash Khurana, Raza Murad, Avtar Gill etc. It was the story of a young journalist (Sunny Deol) who is found wounded on the shores of Goa, treated by Dr. Joe D’Costa (Manohar Singh). He suffers from amnesia and then remembers details about himself, his life etc after five long years. He recollects that he was instrumental in the downfall of an upright politician and had a girl friend etc. Then the movie makes its way through the usual lanes of finding the real-culprits. The movie was directed by Mahesh Bhatt had songs written by Neeraj and Payam Saeedi (don’t know anything about this person) and Rajesh Roshan was the music director.
Today’s song starts on the seashore, in a Goan village setting with choreographer Ganesh Acharya (don’t know if he was the choreographer for this movie) lip-syncing to Manhar Udhas and we see Manohar Singh urging Sunny Deol to join the fun. I am unable to identify the girl (she looks very familiar) who is lip syncing to Sadhana Sargam.
Wishing Sadanand ji once again a musical day with family and remember your fellow Atulites when you cut the cake. 😉

ASAD 10th Anniversary Celebrations – 5
———————————————————————
Our blog will be completing a decade online on 19th July, 2018, and I think this is a great great achievement of Atul ji – our leader – who over all these years has keep it going with his tireless efforts and dedication towards the blog in spite of having his own personal priorities including his full-time job.
I got an opportunity to get in contact with this blog since (my first comment on 15.09.2009 – Kashti Ka Khaamosh Safar Hai …) and after that it took me few years to become a part of the ASAD team on 05.09.2012 when my first contribution – Pyaar Ka Badlaa Mujhe – was posted on the blog. So, after a couple of months it will mark my six years on this blog as a contributor and team member of this family.
As I have said in one of my earlier articles here that when I joined this blog, my main objective was the songs which were in my memory since childhood and these were the songs which are very nostalgic for me and those which brings back wonderful memories for me – Tere Mere Yaaraane ho o. Revisiting those songs is like reviving again the old days – the days I was growing – the childhood and the ‘magic of cinema’.
Over these years since 2012, after the initial phase of sharing ‘lot of songs’ from the seventies, I have also shared some of my anecdotes and written about movies which I may not have watched but their songs are part of my memories. After coming into the contact with this blog I also got to learn and became aware of many songs of yesteryears, got to know about the great personalities associated with these songs, and about the vast treasure trove that HFM is.
In few of my earlier posts I have already written about ‘what this blog is for me (Hum Se Roothhe Hi Bhale Saara Zamaana) and how over all these years it has become an essential part of my life. Hence, I will not repeat all those feelings here, and will come to the song in today’s post.
For this 10th anniversary celebrations of the blog, my theme is ‘nostalgia’. What I want to express in today’s post is that other than the ‘nostalgia’ of songs and movies that I share on this blog, now this blog itself has become a ‘nostalgic’ part of my daily routine. As I browse it daily it brings back memories of initial years a ‘contributor’ and the communications that I have been doing all these years with the team of contributors. And the most beautiful thing of all to happen was meeting some of our team members in person – the gang outs 🙂 – Is Mulaqaat Bas Mazaa Lijiye.
This is the most beautiful part of ‘my’ life and I think I can write it – ‘our life’. Because we, ‘strangers’ to each other, have now become as one ‘soul’ and ‘one life’ because of this blog only. The joy of meeting each other in the ‘gang outs’ cannot be described in words here. It is an everlasting feeling and after every meeting we long to meet next time with many new things to share.
Personally, I feel myself very fortunate to be a part of this blog and to have met some wonderful peoples- our seniors and fellow team members – in my lifetime and it’s like ‘jeevan dhanya ho gaya’, so what more one wants because ‘main to kuchh bhi nahin tha, is blog ne mujhe bahot kuchh bana diya’ 🙂 . In the near future I hope to meet other members whom I have not yet met in person 🙂 . This ‘Suhaana Safar’ will be continuing on and on. . .
In India, this month of July brings the monsoon and nowadays it’s raining in almost all the parts of the country. The monsoon generally takes over and covers the whole country in this month. For me, it is a regular here since months and even in this winter season here in Kenya now, we have regular rains. That is why when I think about the birthday of this blog, it was in July in 2008. Every year on the anniversary of this blog, Atul ji must be remembering those days when he was thinking of launching this blog or putting his thoughts together which later on became a ‘full online regular blog’ 😊
aise hi kuchh din rahe honge wo bhi
jab kaale kaale baadal mandlaa rahe honge
aur idhar geeton ki varsha barasne ki tayyari ho rahi thi. . .
With these thoughts in mind let us enjoy this lovely song and fall in love with HFM yet once again – the songs that brings back memories and the ‘nostalgia’ everybody has been associated with in one’s life. Because hereafter when these celebrations are over the memories of this wonderful week will become a part of our ‘nostalgia’ forever and will be remembered every year. And if the virtual gang out happens, it will also leave behind memories to cherish forever.
Let us now enjoy this wonderful composition from Rajesh Roshan penned by Qateel Shifai, and which has the sweet and melodious voices of Sadhna Sargaam and Suresh Wadkar. The film is ‘Anjaane’. As per information available online, this film was launched in 1993, and its music was released in 1995. However, production delays and other issues caused the film to be released only in 2000. I have not seen this film and I would request knowledgeable readers to throw light on this movie and its songs.
Once again thanking Atul ji and all other members of this blog and wishing all the best in the future, let us enjoy this song.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
I thought of putting down a few thoughts; that came to me in the last few days; on record. For one who is constantly Bangalore- Bashing as regards to the infrastructure etc, I must admit that it has given me a few PLUSes. I have been able to go for a few musical shows at some of the lovely Halls that Bangalore has. It all began with a show which was titled “Suno Mere Bandho Re” which paid tribute to S.D. Burman to the last one; about which I cannot stop myself from repeating about- where I saw my all time favourite Basanti. This is probably because of the changed working hours of the family members. I have found a little more free time here than in the period when I was a Mumbai-mother. Again the free time could be due to that fact that I go out very little on Social visits. So all things put together I find at least an hour or two to sit at my Desktop and read, listen to songs etc. This has also been the cause of my associating with the blog and getting to know a whole new set of Human Beings who have interests similar to mine. Of course for this I should whole heartedly Thank my daughter who stumbled on the blog.
