Today(18 August 2025) is the last Monday of shraavan month in Southern India as well as parts of Central India. We have been presenting Shiv stuti songs on the blog ever since shraawan month commenced in Northern India and subsequently in Southern and Central parts of India. Shraawan is over in Northern parts and now it is getting over in Southern and Central parts of India as well. Today we present another song devoted to Lord Shiva.. This song is from the movie “Balram Shrikrishna-1968”.

‘Hans Ke Jiyo-1950’ (or 1941-1950) was an unreleased movie from the decades of 1941-1950. As per information available in Geet Kosh Vol-II (1941-1950) this movie was made in the decade of 1941-1950. But, there is very less information available about this movie. The name of the production banner for this movie is mentioned as D.M.G. Films. Director of this movie is not mentioned. Likewise, no information is available about the cast of this movie. However Geet Kosh lists seven songs for this movie with singer’s name for each song. Again the lyricist name for the individual songs is mentioned for two songs only which is Chhabi Kumar ‘Mast’, and rest songs have been left blank against the lyricist’s name. The singers list for this movie includes Sulochana Kadam, Sadashiv Gujar, Suman Purohit, and Vinod Kumar.

I have been presenting songs penned by Kavi Pradeep which are yet to be posted here on this blog. We are all aware that Kavi Pradeep mostly wrote songs for movies from ‘mythological genres’. In such movies there are songs related to ‘mythological stories’ and ‘incidents’ which Kavi Pradeep brought to us in lyrics form with nuances such that one can easily visualize the incident happening in front of him/her. Picturisation of such songs is also a treat to watch. Readers might be remembering the recent song about ‘Krishna-Sudama meet’ which was posted here on the ‘world friendship day’. This song is a wonderful song both in terms of lyrics and picturisation.

Today, Janmashtami– the birth festival of Lord Krishna, is being celebrated all over the country. On this occasion I am presenting a song which is about the baal leelaa(s)’ of Lord Krishna. This song is sung by Usha Mangeshkar and chorus and the picturisation of this song has several child artistes and female artistes performing on it. The location of this song and the visuals around are lovely and they help in bringing to us the childhood innocence, playfulness and fun that the friends of Krishn and the Gopees are having.

Today’s song is from the 1950 movie “Basera”. Four songs from this movie have been posted on the blog earlier. This movie made its debut on the blog on 29.01.2016 with its song ‘Prem kahaani chhede jawaani ’ sung by Mubarak Begam. The second song from this movie ‘Dekho jee baat suno Hum se tum aan milo’ was posted on 10.08.2016 which is sung by Bahadur Nanji and Mubarak Begam. After covering one solo song and one duet song from this movie, we posted the third song from this movie on the blog on 16.10.2024, and this was a song in the category of ‘joie de vivre’ song ‘Laut aaye piyaa ’ which was sung by Sulochana Kadam. The fourth song from this movie was again a song sung by Sulochana Kadam and this song was a melancholic song. This song ‘Panchhee gulshan chhod chaley ’ was posted on the blog on 19.05.2025.

Screenplay of this movie “Black & White-2008” was written by Subhash Ghai, Akash Khurana, and Sachin Bhowmick. Story concept of this movie was by Varun Vardhan.

Dialogues in this movie were written by Subhash Ghai himself whereas the editing of this movie was done by Subhash Ghai and Amitabh Shukla.

We have been presenting Shiv stuti songs on every Monday, right from the beginning of saawan maas. Saawan commenced one fortnight in advance in North India vis a vis central and southern parts of India. After Rakshabandhan, saawan is over in North India, but it still continues in central and southern parts of India.

The Monday of today (11 august 2025) is the fifth shraavan somvaar counting from the time saawan began in North India. However, it is the third shrawan somwar for the central-southern parts. This gives us another opportunity to have a shiv-stuti song here on the blog.

The song in this post is from the movie “Akhand Saubhaagyawati” directed by Rakesh Nahta for ‘Dhwani Prakash, Bombay’. He was also the producer of this movie. It had Reeta Bhaduri, Arvind Kumar, Kalpana Deewan, Chandrakant Pandya, Nalin Dave, Kanchan Mattu, Kamini Bhatiya, Krupadev Yanik, Javed Mishra, Chandrakant Thakkar, Vishnu Kumar Vyas, Master Bittoo and others. This movie ‘Akhand Saubhaagyawati’ was passed by Censor Board on 10.07.1981.

The festival of ‘Rakshaabandhan’ is being celebrated all over the country today (9 August 2025). It was mentioned by me in my earlier post today that this will also mark the end of the month of saawan in the northern parts of India. However in the southern parts including Central India the month of saawan will continue till the amaavasyaa falling on 23rd of August. We have been posting saawan songs ever since saawan commenced all over the country. Today we are ending this series here. So, in this post we have a raakhee song as this festival of ‘Rakshaabandhan’ is also associated with the month of saawan.

(Celebrating ‘Saawan’-2025-12)

Today is shraawan poornimaa. The festival of Rakshaabandhan is being celebrated all over the country today. The shraawan poornimaa in fact started yesterday afternoon and as mentioned in our calendars it ends by today afternoon.

That will also mark the end of the month of saawan in the northern parts of India, while in southern parts including Central India the month of saawan will continue to be observed till amaavasyaa which will fall 23rd of this month.

In these parts of the country the saawan month started from 24th of last month.

On this blog we started to celebrate saawan from 28th of last month when saawan had started to be observed in all parts of the country. Today I am ending this series here with two more saawan songs.

Nowadays I am presenting saawan songs from Hindi films that were so far missing from the blog. In this process I am coming across surprises on a daily basis. I am discovering some great compositions.

Everybody has his/her own preferences in music. As for me, I mostly enjoy those creations that I had not listened to earlier.

While looking for songs thst I had never heard before, I got to listen to these songs and I noted them down to be used for my write-ups. That is how I got to listen to these songs, by specifically searching for them, something that most normal music lovers are not likely to do.
