Kishore Kumar, regarded as a singer of happy songs, has sung some fantastic sad/ serious songs in his career too. “Amar Prem” in fact had not one, but quite a few serious songs. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist and R D Burman was the music director of this movie.

“Kati Patang” is a movie that is teeming with great songs. I have already posted a few of them (three of them to be precise), but I am not done with the songs from this movie. There are still many great songs from this movie that are yet to be posted.

Raja, the biggest fan of this blog recalls that “meri pyari bahaniya banegi dulhaniya” seemed to be written with him in mind because of the line “Bhaiya Raja bajaayega Baja” in that song from “Sachcha Jhootha”.

“Golmaal” was a light hearted movie, and I doubt that its songs were planned to be of anything more than timepass nature. But trust the Gulzar-R D Burman combination to take their jobs so seriously that they came up with this song in a timepass situation which went on to become an evergreen composition. In fact, for a long time, I used to wonder why people take this song so seriously. Finally I have shrugged my shoulders and reconciled myself to the fact that this song must be treated as a serious classic song.

This movie “Mahbooba” had a story of reincarnation and a haunting haveli. The music of R D Burman created just the right atmosphere for this movie in songs after songs.

Tum bin jaaun kahaan

This outstanding song “tum bin jaaun kahan” appears twice in the movie. This song was sung by Rafi for Shashi Kapoor and Kishore Kumar for a lesser character. Lyricist was Majrooh Sultanpuri and music was composed by R D Burman.
