(4th August’2024- Kishore Kumar’s 95th birth anniversary )
Today 4th August is the ninety-fifth birth anniversary of singer-actor-producer-director-lyricist & music director Kishore Kumar. He was born on 4th August 1929 at Khandwa (now in Madhya Pradesh). Kishore Kumar left this world at the age of fifty-eight on 13th Octorber 1987 in Bombay (now Mumbai).
Today we are paying our tributes to this multi-faceted genius on this blog.

Today 4th August is another big day for Hindi film-music lovers all over the world. It is the ninety-fifth birth anniversary of the versatile genius Kishore Kumar. He was born on 4th August 1929 at Khandwa (now in Madhya Pradesh). Kishore Kumar left this world at the age of just fifty-eight on 13th Octorber 1987.

Today 27th June’2024 is the eighty-fifth birth anniversary of the legendary music composer Rahul Dev Burman. He was born on 27th June’1939 and he passed away on 4th January’1994. Today on the occasion of his birth anniversary we pay our tributes to R.D. Burman on this blog by covering a few songs composed by him.
One of the most successful successful collaboration of HFM was one where Rahul Dev Burman composed music for movies directed by Shakti Samanta where lead actor was Rajesh Khanna and lyricist was Anand Bakshi.

There are certain songs which leave a deep impression on your young mind. Some may leave a wonderful feeling or a bitter one, an emotional one or a physical one, etc. This song reminds me of a very dear friend who was also my classmate during my formative years (Intermediate and Bachelor’s degree).
This friend, we shall call him Sanjay, had a very strong liking to Kishore Kumar songs, while I had a strong affinity to the songs sung by Mohd Rafi saab. Similarly, he liked R D Burman’s compositions while I loved Laxmikant Pyarelal’s compositions. He had a special liking for tall, dark and handsome actors (Amitabh/Mithun C/Mahendra Sandhu/etc) while I preferred Fair skinned handsome heroes (Shashi/Rishi Kapoors/etc). But the competitive spirit never came in the way of our friendship. We used to be always together in anything and everything. We had a hell of a friendship going on for 5 years.

‘Agar Tum Na Hote’ (1983) was produced by Vimal Kumar-Rajeev Kumar and directed by Lekh Tandon for Shivam Chitra, Bombay. The movie had Rajesh Khanna, Rekha, Raj Babbar, Madan Puri, Asrani, Baby Shabana, Sudhir Dalvi, Yunus Parwez, Sundar, Dulaari, Ranveer Raj, Rekha Parmar, Zubeida (II), Sunil Dhawan etc. Gulshan Bawra and Sami Malik had made friendly appearances in the movie.

1958 was the year when so many musical films came. One could see the excellence of lyricists and the art of the Music Directors making those songs popular. ‘Film Hi Film’ (1983), was produced by Shahab Ahmed and was directed by Hiren Nag. The film starred Pran in a role of a film producer with Seema Deo as his wife and Ramesh Deo as his Secretary. Rest of the cast consisted of Raj Kishor, Birbal, Mohan Choti, Pandit Iqbal, Mulchand, and the new faces, Furqan, Bipin, Sonia and Beena. The screenplay and dialogues were written by Kamaleshwar. It was a novel idea to incorporate scenes and songs from some of the incomplete/shelved films of 1950s, 60s and 70s into the story of the film.
