I have repeatedly stressed the fact that there was nothing B grade about the music of these so called B and C grade movies. But as far as the public were concerned, the music of these movies would fail to catch up, mainly because of lack of exposure. Since most people would not watch these movies, they would not be aware of these songs, and the records of these songs would not be made and sold as a result of non popularity of these songs. So it was a catch 22 situation for the music of B grade movies.

Sometime back, I was wondering about the playback singers who have sung for Dev Anand and I counted about half a dozen different names. Well known names like Rafi, Kishore, Manna Dey, Mukesh, Hemant Kumar, as well as unknown name like Dwijen Mukherji have given playback for Dev Anand. Some people would even like to include S D Burman though I am not sure.

There are many songs from the past which despite their obvius class did not become very popular. one can say that such songs were not quite meant for the masses. And those who appreciated such compositions were in a very small minority.
