Hullo Atuldom
There have been three posts today, by Avinashji, an ardent fan of the Panchamda a.k.a. R. D. Burman- a music director who was a favorite of an entire generation of Film Music lovers. ‘Nazar Andaaz’ (2022) is produced by T Series and Kathputli Productions and is directed by the debutant Vikrant Deshmukh. The main cast includes Kumud Mishra in a protagonist’s role of a visually impaired person with Divya Dutta and Abhishek Banerjee. Rajeshwari Sachdev makes a special appearance in the film. The outdoor shooting of the film took place in Mumbai and in Kutch (Gujarat). The film was released on October 7, 2022, in a very limited theatres without any marketing. In Mumbai, the film was released in two theatres only and that too the single show. Because of this, the film went largely unnoticed. After a month or so, the film was released on the OTT platforms. I watched the film on the OTT platform.

‘Chhal’ (2002) was produced under the banner of Ishaan Films and was directed by Hansal Mehta. The cast included Kay Kay Menon and Jaya Seal in the lead roles with the supporting cast of Naved Aslam, Shrivallabh Vyas, Prashant Narayanan, Apurva Asrani, Manoj Mishra, Anil Chaudhary, Arash, Preeti Koppikar, Shailendra Srivastav, Sanjeev Jha, Abhijeet Lahiri, Sanjay Mishra, Makarand Deshpande etc. It was a debut Hindi film for Jaya Seal and the second Hindi film for Kay Kay Menon, Naved Aslam and Prashant Narayanan. It was Hansal Mehta’s second film as a director. So, it was an important film for these artists for furthering their filmy career.

‘Raincoat’ (2004) was produced by Shri Venkatesh Films and was directed by Rituparno Ghosh. Ajay Devgan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were in the lead roles supported by Anu Kapoor, Mauli Ganguly, Pradip Adhikari, Kailash Koppikar, Surekha Sikri, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Kameshwar Mishra etc. The film was adapted from the story, ‘Gift of Magi’ (1906) by O Henry which has been acknowledged in the film’s credit titles. The shooting of this film was completed in 16 days in Kolkata.

According to some surveys, about 90 percent of the Indian marriages are still the outcome of arranged alliances. While the parents/elders are involved in the process of the selection of alliances, the ultimate decision are supposed to be left to boys/girls. But in reality, in most cases, under the pressure from the parents/elders, the boys/girls will not go against the selection of alliance by their parents/elders. In such cases, some newly married couples may soon realize that they are not in love with their spouses after the marriage for variety of reasons. But they continue to live together as the divorce is not a pleasant option. In some cases, over a period of time, a feeling of mutual care and trust set in the married couples. This is broadly the main theme of the film ‘Dam Laga Ke Haisha’ (2015).

This series on the songs composed by music composer Uttam Singh has been going on for some time. Today I present an ‘epic song’ composed by him from the movie ‘Gadar Ek Premkatha-2001’.
Today we know Uttam Singh as a successful and famous ‘music-composer’, who composed songs for movies like ‘Dil To Paagal Hai’, ‘Gadar Ek Premkatha’ etc. But I doubt how many of us know about his initial struggles and his ‘inspirational story’ of ‘struggles to successes’. (Even I was not aware of his full biographical information till recently).
