People intersted in old Hindi movie music often come across names that may confuse people. For instance, there are people who confuse between Naushad and Nashaad. Then there are people (including some who are regarded as knowledgeable by others as well as by themselves) who think that Ghulam Haider and Ghulam Mohammad are one and the same ! A few years back, I was listening to an audiocast (I think the actual tem used in different) of a programme on old songs. The presenter presented a song from “Shaheed, viz. Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujawaan shaheed ho (Shaheed) . After the song, the presenter informed the listeners that the music of this song was compose by Ghulma Haider, and that music lovers are awrae of this music director for his compositions in “Paakeeza” (1972). ‘Isi ka naam duniya hai’ (1962) is a film starring Ashok Kumar, Shyama, Mehmood & Sahira etc. A few songs of this movie that I have found on youtube are all picturised on Mehmood and Sahira. Only one song from this film is posted in the blog. For the second song from this movie, I had a choice among three Mehmood songs that I have seen. With careful consideration, I decided on this party song, which is also a piano song.

Normally it is believed that O P Nayyar composed music for only two Shammi Kapoor movies, viz. “Tumsa Nahin Dekha” (1957) and “Kashmir Ki Kali”(1964). But that is not correct. O P Nayyar also composed the music of “Mujrim” (1958). This was an Eagle Films Production. It was produced by F C Mehra and directed by O P Ralhan. The movie had Shammi Kapoor, Ragini, Shubha Khote, Kamal Kapoor, S. N.
