Hindi film industry is known for making most of the artists (actors, directors, music directors, singers, lyricists etc.) struggle for years before they finally reap the rewards of success in their careers. There are some who continued to struggle in the film industry for long without attaining much success in their pursuits. For examples, playback singers like Sudha Malhotra and Minoo Purshottam, music directors like C Arjun and G S Kohli and lyricists like Asad Bhopali and Naqsh Layalpuri did not attain the success in their filmy careers which they deserved. In this list, Asad Bhopali seems to be the ‘leader’ among strugglers.

Seven song of the film Sangeet Samrat Tansen (1962) are posted in the blog. This singular Rafi solo is the eighth song to appear. It seems to me that Bharat Bhooshan is in the title role. The song is the creation of lyricist Shailendra and Music Director S N Tripathi. But to elevate this song in a film based on a vocalist life, the onus rest heavily on Rafi Sahab. And the award goes to Mohammed Rafi Sahab. Not lyrical, not musical but a vocal beauty, this one.

This is a song from Film- Paapi-1953, a film largely remembered for the only Double Role that Raj kapoor ever did in his career. Another reason to remember this film was that this was a film Directed by Sardar Chandulal Shah, the owner of Ranjit Studios and Ranjit Movietone.
