“Kundan” (1955) was a movie based on the celebrated French novel “Les Miserables”. Adapting it to Hindi movies meant that there was enough scope for melancholic songs in it 🙂 And the cast included Nimmi, who specialised in just that kind of roles. 😀

I do not have much idea of this movie called “Aansoo”(1953). From the title of the movie, one can safely assume that the song should boast of some melancholic songs, as well as bhajan etc.

“Toofaan Aur Diyaa” (1956) as the name suggests is the fight of a figurative diyaa (lamp) against toofaan (storm) – sort of like a David vs Goliath fight, so to say.

I am aware of a movie called “Shamaa” (1961) which was a musical blockbuster. There was another movie of this name which was released in 1946. I have in fact discussed one song from “Shama” (1946) in the past.

“Balam” (1949) is a movie that had actors like Agha, Nigar, Suraiyya, Masud, Jayant, Wasti etc in it. This movie had a mainstream storyline in it. And it is interesting to note that a mainstream movie like this was directed by Homi Wadia.

“Sindoor” (1947) is an old and obscure movie by now. Little is known about this movie. It was produced by Filmistan studio and directed by Kishore Sahu. The movie had Paro,Kishore Sahu,Gulab, Shamim,Pratima Devi etc.

“Sanam” (1951) is a movie starring Dev Anand, Suraiyya,Meena Kumari,K N Singh,Gope,Pratima Devi,Jillo etc in it. This movie has some nice and interesting songs in it.I have already discussed as many as four songs from this movie.

“Nastik” (1954) was a moving tale of a family of siblings (two brothers and a sister) who see their parents massacred in the aftermath of partition and then they get separated from each other. The separated sister Kamla (played by Roopmala) is forced into a brothel, where she is required to entertain clients.
