“Son of India”(1962) was produced and directed by Mehboob Khan. It followed in the wakes of his earlier movie namely “Mother India”(1957).

Produced by Fazli Brothers and directed by Syad Fazlu Hussain, the film had Noorjehan, Abdul Latif, Baby Zubaida, Amina, A M Khan, Kamal, Geeta Bose, Ghori, Bhudo Advani, Anwari, Raazi, Anis etc starring in it. Shams Lakhnavi and Raziuddin ‘Arsh’ Hyderi were the lyrics writer and the Music was set by Zafar Khursheed. From the email that Khyati Behn sent me with the lyrics of this song, I reproduce the epithet she has used – “One more song to add to Lataji’s THE BEST MELODIES EVER COLLECTION.” I heard this song, and I do agree with her. A song par excellence, that has long been relegated to anonymity for various reasons and circumstances.

The movie “Doosri Shadi” (1947) has eleven songs in it, with music composer Pandit Govindram and lyricist Ishwar Chand Kapoor. The honour of singers are shared between Zohrabai Ambalewali and Shamshad Begum, with a few songs by Rajkumari. From the page on myswar.com this appears to be a female dominated music score with few songs for male singers. There is one name of ‘Ram Kamlani ‘ as singer in a couple of duets with Shamshad Begum. And for two songs singers name are absent. These two songs from this movie are posted in the blog.
