Today’s song is the Title song from the film Chameli ki shaadi-1986.
This is one of my favourite films, amongst the hundreds of films that I have seen since the 1940’s decade. As such I love seeing genuine comedy films. Every Hindi film has atleast one or two comedy scenes. In earlier films, there used to be a specialist actor – the Comedian. Nowadays, especially from the Amitabh times, the film’s Hero does the comedy scenes, stunt scenes and emotional scenes himself, thus eliminating the comedy specialists totally. After Asrani, Paintal and others of their ilk, I don’t think any major comedy specialist rose in Hindi films.

Hullo Atuldom
“Pyaar Hi Pyaar” – release date 17th October 1969- was directed by Bhappie Sonie and produced by Rajaram & Satish Wagle. It had music by Shankar-Jaikishan & Hasrat Jaipuri wrote most of the songs. Rajinder Krishan is credited with one song. The movie had a cast of Vyjayanthimala, Dharmendra, Manmohan, Mehmood, Helen, Dhumal, Madan Puri, D.K. Theme songs and or background songs is the common feature in Hindi films. I think it was more common especially in the Hindi movies from the seventies. Such songs also help to push the narrative of the story. They also help to show the growth and transformation of the characters through different phases of life in the movie.

(#Music Composer-Singer-Bappi Lahiri#9 – The magic of Bappi Da & Kishore Kumar)
Today’s song is another Bappi Da-Kishore Kumar song which I like very much since the release of its movie. I had not watched this movie and over the years I only remember this song and one other song of this movie which is ‘naina ye barse, milne ko tarse’ which too I like very much. However I had always thought these songs as the compositions of Laxmikant-Pyarelal. It was only when I noted down the lyrics of this song for presentation that I came to know that it was a composition of Bappi Lahiri and not Laxmikant Pyarelal.
