I have mentioned it in the past that Hindi movies and Hindi songs tend to deal with topics that are of interest and relevance to Indian public. Having said that, one finds that there are very few songs on some topics of everyone’s interest. For example, there are very few songs, if any, that deal with the feelings of Indians as voters. 🙂

On the occasion of the 63rd republic day of India (26th january 2012), we are discussing a few patriotic songs today.
Here is a song of this genre from “Aakraman” (1975). This song is sung by Kishore Kumar and it is picturised on Rajesh Khanna, who plays a handicapped person who has lost one leg and is forced to walk with the help of crutches. He sings this patriotic songs to encourage the Armymen who are proceeding to the battlefield. The picturisation also shows Sanjeev Kumar and several others play fauzi jawaans in this song.

“Amaanush” (1975) is a movie which was produced in Bangla as well as Hindi. The star cast as well as the music of the two versions were common. The star cast consisted of some big names of Bangla movies, viz Uttam Kumar, Anil Chatterjee, Manik Dutt,Utpal Dutt etc. Even Sharmila Tagore, the leading lady of this movie was from Bangla background.

“Amaanush” (1975) was a movie that was made in Bangla as well as Hindi. The music of the two versions remained the same with the same music director composing for both the movies. Only the lyricist (naturally) changed.

There are some songs that I heard in my younger days and liked them without having much clue about their details. with time, these songs were forgotten. I have become reacquainted with several of these songs again after a passage of three decades or so. And I am not the only one. Several readers of the same generation also offered similar remarks about these songs.

“Mili” (1975) was a copy of “Anand” (1971) which in turn was a copy of a Japanese award winning movie that Hrishikesh Mukherji had seen in a film festival sometime in late 1960s. I do not now remember the name of this movie but I had read about it in magazines of 1970s. I request other readers to tell me the name of this movie which inspired these movies.
