Quiz time. What is the result of the marriage of an exceptional script writer- lyricist- poet with another script and story writer who was also a child star to add? And what happens if one adds a small amount of talented step mother whose own family is full of literary giants?

One thing that is common among all of us who follow this blog or films is that we are all fans of one or other star be it an actor or music director or lyricist or film maker or singer. Right? Now what happens if we have the advantage of being in the film making business itself? We get an opportunity to showcase our love for our favourites. As today’s birthday girl Farah Khan had.

Everywhere we see people are doing a recap or recount of all the things that occurred in the last year. There are people who are doing count down of the songs that released in the year. There are others who are posting photos of the year that was, on the friendly social networking sites. (In this we are aided by the site itself in choosing random photos that was published by us through the year). So I thought let me also see how the year was for me.

Its been about a month since I last sent any write-up to Atul. (I remember the last thing I did was send the lyrics of a song to Atul and Sudhirji for Sanjeev Kumar death anniversary). Not that I was short of ideas. It is just that various factors contributed to keeping me away from the blog. I have more than a month’s posts to catch up with. First it was diwali. Then my dearest niece’s engagement which took me to Chennai for a weekend. (Actually I had thought I will be able to call up our YYIIPPEEEE!!!! master when I was in his land but that also didn’t materialize. Sorry YYIIPPEEEE!!!! Master)

Before I start, I would like to thank Ava and Harvey for letting me know that this song was not posted here yet and for coming up with the brilliant idea of posting it today and a big thank you to Atul for being so kind and patient and for letting me do this post.

SONGS FROM ARTISTE NAME FILMS…..Song No. 8
————————————————
Today’s song is from film Zubeidaa-2000. It is sung by Alka Yagnik and the MD is A R Rahman.
Zubeidaa was a film (one of the only 2 such films in India ), made on the life of actress Zubeida, who operated during 1937 to 1949. This Zubeida is NOT the Alam Ara fame Zubeida. That Zubeida had left films in 1935,after marrying a very rich Jahagirdar-Raja Dhanraj Gir ji from Hyderabad (Deccan).

Chaandni Raaten – Song No. 9
——————————-
This song is simply my most favourite ‘chaand’ song of the 21st century. The last two decades had a few such music scores in Hindi films, ‘ Khaamoshi ‘ and ‘Parineeta’ are among them which made the decades bearable musically. Favourite ‘chaand’ song from the 90’s is here. Melody in film songs was still trying to keep its head above the general cacophony which passed for music and entertainment.

If there was a national season in India, it would probably be the monsoons. Across the country, the arrivals of rains is awaited and celebrated, not only traditional ways but also in very personal ways. Someone might have their mother making Adrak wali chai (ginger tea) and pakodas for them, while someone else might have a standing date with Bandra Bandstand. We all have some beautiful memories of rain that rerun in our heads when the first rains hit the dry soil wherever we are.
