The film was made by National Studios and it was directed by Mehboob. The Music Director was Anil Biswas. As a team they had worked in 8 films together, at a stretch. The story of the film was by Zia Sarhadi. Screenplay and dialogues were by Wajahat mirza. The cast of the film included Shaikh Mukhtar, Nalini Jaywant, Harish, Kanhaiyalal, Husn banu, Shehzadi jr., Baby Meena (Meena Kumari), Bhudo Advani and many others. At the time of this film, Nalini Jaywant was only 14 year old, running into 15th year. As a girl child, her role was done by Meena Kumari as Baby Meena. She was 7 year old then.

This movie was directed by Vishwamitter for ‘Abhinay Film Productions, Bombay’. ‘Raja Rani’ (1973) was produced by Jagdish Kumar under the banner of Filmkunj and was directed by Sachin Bhowmick who also wrote story and the screenplay. The cast included Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore in the lead roles supported by Raj Mehra, David, Iftekhar, Suresh, Asit Sen, Brahma Bhardwaj, Manmohan, Uma Dutt, Pravin Paul, Dulari, Naaz, Kanu Roy, Indrani Mukherjee etc. There were some more well-known actors, like Mumtaz, Farida Jalal, Sujit Kumar and Achla Sachdev who appeared in cameo roles but was not credited in the film’s credit titles. Producer of the film, Jagdish Kumar was the production controller in J Om Prakash’s film production banner, Filmyug. So, in a way, the film can be regarded as J Om Prakash’s home production. This is the only film Sachin Bhowmick directed during his filmy career.

Madhuraj aka Madhukar Rajasthani (7 songs), Manav (3) and J.C.Pant (1)- director and producer of this film. The cast included Nirupa Roy, Shashikala, Sapru, Ansari, Mukri, S.Nazir, Shakila and others. We have no idea about the film’s storyline. For 11 songs, there were 8 singers. ‘Raeeszaada’ (1976) was produced by V L Khare and was directed by Raja Thakur, The cast included Vikram and Zarina Wahab in lead roles supported by Dr Shreeram Lagoo, Rakesh Roshan, Kunwar Ajit (Ajit Singh Deol), Bhushan Tiwari, Pratima Devi, Vijay Khare, Randhir, Mushtaq Merchant, Master Kiran, Helen, Baldev Khosa (guest appearance), Sanjana (guest appearance) etc. I do not remember to have heard this film though I was aware of ‘Raeeszaada’ (1990).

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Five Rifles-1974’. I had presented a song from this movie on the blog long time back.
This is a special movie from my childhood days for people of my age group. I was just above six years old when this movie was released. I must have watched this movie with my parents or elders in the family.
The two things that stayed in my mind from this movie were monkeys with rifles and the iconic qawwaalee in the mesmerizing voice of Aziz Nazan. I also recall reading about this film that look-alikes of Rajesh Khanna and Shashi Kapoor were used in this film.
