In Hindi movies, songs have traditionally played many roles. For one, songs are often the main reason why many people come to watch the movie. In one old movie, which had no songs in it, the maker had to actually explain it to the audience why that movie had no songs. And that explanation cut no ice with the public.

“Sawera” (1958) is a forgotten movie by now. This movie had Ashok Kumar and Meena Kumari in lead roles. Like most movies of those days, this movie too had some nice songs in it.
