This movie, described as a “social” movie in HFGK had Ashok Kumar, Rehana Sultan, Nikhilesh, Deven Verma, Keshto Mukherji, Subroto, Ashoo, Pinchoo Kapoor, Leela Mishra, Paul Sharma, Jal Parvez, Helen etc in it. Today we introduce the till now missing movie ‘Vishnu Puraan’ to join the movies of ‘1973’ on the blog.
“Vishnu Puraan-1973” was directed by Shridhar Prasad for ‘Shibani Pictures, Bombay’. It was produced by Bhanu Bannerjee.
“Vishnu Puraan” was a mythological movie inspired from the ‘folk tales’ and ‘legends’ of our country, and especially the ‘Katha Saritsaagar’ written by Somdev and the play ‘Swapnvasavadattam’ written by Mahakavi Bhas. This movie was about the ‘ten incarnations’ (‘dash-avtaar’) as mentioned in ‘Vishnu Puraan’, their greatness and glory.
