This song is my 12th in this series of Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle.
“Mujhpe Bhi Toh Daalo Ek Nazar” sung by Asha Bhosle, penned by Varma Malik and composed by Sonik Omi.
“Maan Gaye Ustaad” (1981) was directed by Shibu Mitra for ‘Kapoor Films International, Bombay’. It was produced by S.K. Kapoor.
It starred Ashok Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Ajit, Bindu, Amjad Khan, Pran, Chandrashekhar, Rajendra Nath, Sonia Sahni, Devyani Thakkar, Uttam Sodhi, Johny, Leena Das, Jazbel, Peeloo Wadia, Mohan Choti, Rajan Haksar, Rajan Kapoor, Shetty, Murad, Ghulam Hussain, Moolchand, Gurucharan, Bhola and others. This movie also had child artistes Ravi Valecha and Baby Suparna.

Who was the first woman music director in Indian films?
Well, to the unversed but having some intertest in HFM, Usha Khanna’s name would crop up in the mind. To the more learned ones, Saraswati Devi would be the answer. To experts, it would be Jaddanbai, the mother of legendary actress Nargis.
However, the credit goes to Ishrat Sultana aka Bibbo, who was the composer of Adl-e-Jahangir released in 1934. Jaddan Bai’s score for Talash-e-Haq was a year later in 1935.

Hullo Atuldom
22nd January is the birth anniversary of a filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, editor and actor, who is known for acclaimed films such as Guide (1965), Teesri Manzil (1966), Jewel Thief (1967) and Johny Mera Naam (1970). He came from a family of filmmakers- producers, editors and actors. He made most of his films under the in-house banner Navketan Films and was part of the Anand Family. He was Vijay Anand a.k.a. Goldie Anand- younger brother of Chetan & Dev Anand. His sister Sheel Kanta Kapur is the mother of actor-director Shekhar Kapur and part-time actress Sohaila Kapur.

‘Aahistaa Aahistaa-1981’ was directed by Eesmayeel Shroff for ‘New World Enterprises, Bombay’. It was produced by Sibte Hasan Rizvi. The cast of this movie included Shammi Kapoor, Nanda, and Padmini Kolhapure, Deven Verma, Shashikala, Ashalata, Aruna Irani, Savita Bajaj, Sudhir Pande, Manisha, Rakesh Bedi, Leela Mishra, Master Sandeep, Baby Waheeda, Baby Gazala, Sunder Taneja, Kalu Singh, Krishnakant Pandya (junior), Deepak, Iliyas Contractor, Pramod Pathak, D.A. Ambaule, Harish, Suresh, Ramesh and others. The movie introduced Kunal Kapoor and Soni Razdan. Kadar Khan, Rahman and Girish Karnad had a special appearance in this movie. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 05.10.1981. The music of ‘Aahistaa Aahistaa-1981’ was composed by the genius music director Khayyam Saab. Many songs from this movie became popular during those days.

Today 18th August, 2024 is the ninety-first birthday of Poet, Lyricist, Writer, Director and Producer Gulzar Saab. On this occasion we are celebrating his birthday here on this blog by posting songs penned by him.
In this post I am presenting a song from the movie ‘Naram Garam-1981’. It was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee for ‘Film Group, Bombay’. This movie was produced by Subhash Gupta & Uday Narayan Singh. The cast of this movie has Amol Palekar, Swaroop Sampat, Utpal Dutt, A.K. Hangal, Kiran Wairale, Padma Chavan, Suresh Chatwal, Anand, T.P. Jain, Sunder, Javed Khan, Bishen Khanna, Vijay Ghosh, Saral Mukherjee, Adarsh Tandon, Mukund Dada, and Chandramohan Khanna, Devi Chand, Shatrughan Sinha and others. Today, the 12th of July is the 70th birthday of Sulakshana Pandit, one of the most underrated and unlucky actor/playback singer of the 1970s and 1980s. I have discussed her brief bio in one of my earlier posts here.
