Naseeruddin Shah, in a chat with a newspaper journalist sometime in early 2014, had revealed that there were about 35 Hindi which have been completed in all respect but remained unreleased till that day. If the numbers are correct, it could be some sort of a dubious record for a Hindi film actor. But I am not surprised. Naseeruddin Shah has been mostly associated with the ‘parallel’ and the ‘middle of the road cinemas. And for such types of films, it is very difficult to get distributors to release the films.

In my last article, I had discussed Nagesh Kukunoor, a NRI and a Chemical Engineer from USA, who left his lucrative job there to become a film-maker. Somnath Sen was another NRI who, after working as a Software Engineer in the U.S., decided to become a film-maker. Armed with a Master’s in film-making from the University of Southern California, he returned to India to begin his passion for film making.

In the blog, Sudhir Jee sometimes describes me as Ranchiwala Gaanewaala.
I have spent the formative years of my life in Ranchi. But when I think about it now, I find that the last time I visited Ranchi was in 1991 ! So it has been 28 years since I lost touch with Ranchi ! More than a quarter of a century !

Welcome all to this post of today!!!
Today 5th June is the ‘World Environment Day’ which is celebrated all over the world on 5th June every year. Since 2017, we are trying to connect us with this celebration by posting a song on the blog which comes closer to the theme of the ‘World Environment Day’ of that year. Though, it is more or less difficult that we find any direct song relevant to the theme or subject, our endeavour here is to connect with those songs wherein we have ‘nature-connection’ in them or songs about nature symbols.

Today 13th April 2019 marks one hundred years of the most barbaric massacre of people under the British rule in India. On this day every year we also celebrate ‘Baisakhi’ all over India.
It was hundred years ago on 13th April 1919 that people gathered on the occasion of ‘Baisakhi’ at the ‘Jallianwala Bagh’ in Amritsar were fired upon ruthlessly by ‘bullets’ from the British Police and hundreds of them were killed brutally and many hundreds were injured.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 13
————————————————
When the blog’s train reached 9th March of 2009, ten years ago, one of the songs posted that day was from the 1980 film ‘Thodi Si Bewafaai’. Till that point, it was the third song posted for this film. Today, after a gap of 10 years, the fourth song of this film finds its place here. Wow, ten years it took – and none of us thought of looking at this film again during these years.

Welcome all to this article which comes after my last post on 13th October in Remembrance of Kishore Kumar. In between I was supposed to send couple of articles which I could not do because of the project work now in full swing at site and we have to sometimes work for extended hours too. I was also trying to finish two of my earlier posts which got stuck up due to the same reason and then even though they were in my mind I was trying to get back to the rhythm to re-start and complete them.
Our Peevesie’s Mom generally mentions about the anniversaries of the artists and she also tries to keep sending posts for such occasions and simultaneously she also tries to combine anniversaries of various artists and anniversaries of our team members too. 🙂 Her last post on the blog was for celebrating our beloved Raja Saab’s birthday and of Raveena Tandon too.
The reason for today’s post is also a birth anniversary occasion which we missed and which even I was not aware till yesterday.
