This is another gem of a ghazal by Mubarak Begum. Hameer Hatth is an lesser known film from 1964. Produced under the banner of Jagdish Films, Bombay, it is directed by Jawant Jhaveri. The star cast of the movie includes Nirupa Roy, Jairaj, Manhar Desai, Anita Guha, Helen, Sapru, Vijaya Cahoudhary, BM VYas, etc. The music is composed by another less celebrated talent, Sanmukh Babu Upadhyay. There are a total of eight songs in the film, written by three lyricists, Neelkanth Tewari, Uday Khanna, and Saraswati Kumar ‘Deepak’. This particular song is penned by Saraswati Kumar Deepak, and has been beautifully rendered by Mubarak Begum.

The name of Bhagat Singh evokes strong emotions in the hearts of all Indians. This great son of Punjab laid down his young life fighting for the independence of India from the rule of the British aggressors.Bhagat Singh was born on September 27, 1907 to Sardar Kishan Singh and Vidyavati in the Khatkar Kalan village in district Layallpur in of undivided Punjab (now in Pakistan). Many senior members of his family were part of the Gadar party, and the spirit to fight the British was inherited in his blood.

I have not seen “Wo Kaun Thhi” (1964) but I know that Manoj Kumar and Sadhana were the lead actors in this movie. Knowing Hindi movies, the lead duo in Hindi movies must fall in love and sing romantic duets. I have posted as many as five songs from this movie and I just realised that none of these songs were romantic duets picturised on the lead pair. There were songs picturised on them, but those songs were solo songs sung by Lata (and lip synced by Sadhana). In other words, Manoj Kumar did not get to lip sync in the songs picturised on Manoj Kumar and Sadhana.

Movie makers whose movies were based on pre cabarat dance eras (viz Historical/mythological/Fantasy movies)also found dance situations where Helen and other dacing ladies were shown to dance in the courts of Kings.
