When I started writing the article on the film, ‘Mrigtrishna’ (1975, I found it be very long (3500+words). So, I felt better to convert it into two separate articles. My first article on this film was posted on the Blog on June 10, 2025 in which I have mainly covered the story of the film with some other details. In the second article on the film, I will cover a brief biography of the music director and lyricist, Shambhu Sen along with some additional information on the film.

Today (14 March 2025) is Holi, the festival of colours.
The legend of Holi is known to all Indians. The name of the festival Holi is derived from the name of Holika, the asuri who tried to help her brother Hiranyakashyap in his bid to kill his Vishnu Bhakt son Prahlad who would refuse to acknowledge his father as the supreme God.

Hullo Atuldom
A long time ago, sometime in my childhood, there used to be an ad that used to start with “a small & happy family”. The family is shown to be sitting and enjoying quality, family time when suddenly there is a problem in the form of a flickering TUBE-LIGHT. Basically it was an ad for some brand of TUBE-LIGHTS that we used to see in cinema halls. From that ad, I learnt that small things effect smooth functioning of families.

Mukesh and his Composers – 34
Do Badan (1966) song “Raha gardishon mein hardam” was first recorded in the voice of Mukesh for Ghunghat (1960), which belonged to the production house of Gemini Studios.
The producer S. S Vasan felt that the song was not aligning with the flow of the film and he recommended its exclusion.
Six years later, composer Ravi took permission from S. S Vasan and included the song in the film Do Badan, in the voice of Rafi. Of course, the said song as well as all others in Do Badan (1966) did become quite popular. But sadly, the unused Mukesh version is probably lost forever. According to some sources, composer Ravi was said to be in possession of the spool recording of this unused Mukesh song, but unfortunately, it was lost in the Mumbai floods of 2005. Thus, the only place where there is a remote possibility of this song being traced is Gemini Studios, the production house of Ghunghat (1960).
