Today (24 october 2014) is the birthday of Greta, who is known to most of us as Memsaab of the blog memsaabstory.com. Her blog began in 2007 and it soon became a favourite blog and a meeting place of HFM bloggers. This blog began one year after her blog and I would stumble upon her blog quite frequently during my search for songs. For quite some time I was under the impression that she was a blogger of Indian origin who was based in US. It took me some time to realise that she was an American lady with no previous Indian connections and that she had learnt about Hindi movies from the ground zero up, and that too in just a few years. She in fact describes her initiation into India in general and and Hindi movies in particular in great and interesting details in her blog.

Similarly, people from all corners of India join this industry, but only few get proper opportunity and recognition here. The rest simply disappear in this ocean. Success, they say, has no formula. Famous composer C.Ramchandra had once said, ‘If only there is anyone who can predict correctly what will succeed and what the public will like, such a person can earn millions here !’

Amongst various phases that we go through in life, childhood, though the earliest of our conscious phases, usually manages to imprint some memories in our brain that seem to be indelible right through our life. We might forget what we had for lunch earlier today but we remember a seemingly inconsequential event that occurred when we were ten!
