It has been mentioned by several readers that Dev Anand appeared almost immortal to them and it was inconceivable to them that he could ever die. But time and tide waits for none and everyone has to succumb some day. Dev Anand breathed his last on 3rd of december 2011 at the age of 88. He led an active life till the end. His zest for life and his youthful exuberance is something that is difficult to emulate for most people. With time , he had lost weight and had shrunk as was bound to happen, but his mental faculties continues to be sharp and he could still walk on his feet. Most people can only dream of such physical fitness if they ever live up to that age.

Taak jhoom naacho nashe mein choor

“Kaala Sonaa” (1975) to my mind is inspired from “Westerns”. In this movie, Feroz Khan plays Clint Eastwood. Unlike Clint Eastwood, who would barely speak, our desi tough guy would not be averse to multi task. He would find time to romance, sing and dance, in addition to performing his day job of seeking revenge for the murder of his father.

By 1980s, the lyrics of Hindi movie songs had become much more functional and basic. In many cases, the songs of that era virtually dispensed with the need of any meaningful lyrics and managed with gibberish passing for lyrics.
