“Ishq Par Zor Nahin” (1970) is a movie produced by “Twinkle Stars” production. Suresh Saigal was the producer whereas Ramesh Saigal directed the movie. Unlike Ramse Brothers, these Saigal brothers did not produce Horror movies, I am sure.:)

“Aatmaram” (1979) is a recent movie bty the standards of this blog, but this movie is nearly as obscure as many movies of much older vintage. The reasons are not far to seek. The movie was a smaller budget movie with actors like Shatrughan Sinha, Vidya Sinha,Bindiya Goswami,Amjad Khan etc in it. The movie was directed by Sohanlal Kanwar and the movie sank without a trace.

I am aware of a 1954 movie called “Mastaana” (1954). Now, thanks to the lyrics of a song, which were sent to be by Prakashchnadra, I am now become aware of another movie of the same name which was released in 1970.

I have discussed a couple of songs from “Suhaag Sindoor”(1961) in the past. Here is another song from this movie. The song is sung by Rafi and Manna Dey and it is picturised on Johny Walker (lip syncing in the voice of Rafi) and Balraj Sahni (lip syncing in the voice of Manna Dey).

Remembering Mehmood, on his birth anniversary (29th september).
The name brings on the image of a dhoti clad south Indian Brahmin music teacher with a clean shaven head, and a long choti. The year is 1968. Comedy actor, producer and director Mehmood, released his film Padosan. With Kishore Kumar, Sunil Dutt, Keshto Mukherjee etc., the film has gone on to be the most enduring and memorable comedy films in Hindi cinema. (As the story goes, once early in his acting career, Mehmood went to Kishore Kumar to request for casting in one of his films. Kishore da was reluctant, considering that he himself was generally doing comic roles. Mehmood came away with a comment that one day, he (Mehmood) would get an opportunity to produce films, and then he would definitely cast Kishore da in it. It happened with Padosan 🙂 )
