Watching the picturisation of this song, I cannot help feeling that the maker of this movie must have had Shammi Kapoor in mind while picturising this song. And indeed, when one listens to this song, one gets the feeling that one is listening to one of the Rafi songs sung for Shammi Kapoor.

This movie “Mahbooba” had a story of reincarnation and a haunting haveli. The music of R D Burman created just the right atmosphere for this movie in songs after songs.

Hrishikesh Mukherjee saw a Japanese movie in a film festival and he was so impressed with that movie that he not only made it into “Anand”, but he also later remade his own remake ( with the protagonist a female this time) into “Mili”.

The value of lyrics in a song is often underestimated, whereas in reality it is the words of the lyrics that influence the listeners immensely. Words are all powerful and the sentiments involved in songs can influence its listeners immensely. There have been instances when certain songs moved big leaders as well as ordinary people to tears, or roused them into action.

I have mentioned earlier theat there are bollywood songs for different peiods of the day. I have mostly dwelt upon late night songs which I call “chaayaget” songs in honour of Vividh Bharati programme of that name. But what about evening songs ?

It is a song that is less popular than other songs from this movie. And reasons are not too far to seek. It is a semi classical song, and such songs are rarely popular with lay audience.
