Rail songs are those songs in which Hindi movie actors are singing the song aboard a train. I am aware of around 40-50 Rail songs from Hindi movies. Most of them have been discussed in this blog. “Grihasthhi” (1963) was a family drama in which Ashok Kumar and Nirupa Roy (the standard couple of those days) play the parents of no less than seven daughters ! So naturally, much of the movie revolves around the efforts of the parents to get their daughters married off.

Till 1960s,every Indian household would have framed photographs of Mahatma Gandhi (father of the nation), Jawaharlal Nehru (Prime Minister of India) and Rajendra Prasad (President of India) hanging on the walls of their drawing rooms. In addition, people would also have photographs of Subhash Chandra Bose, Vallabh Bhai Patel etc too.
