It is my turn today to celebrate a ‘Yippeee’.  I am not sure if I have specifically announced a ‘Yippeee’ in any of my earlier posts. Possibly that could have been before the term ‘Yippeee’ was coined. Today we announce the completion of posting of all songs of the 1956 film ‘Makheechoos’. The important thing for me is that the music is by that unsung genius Vinod.

This is another beautiful ghazal from the film Chhoti Chhoti Baaten (1965), presented as a duet in this movie. The ghazal is sung by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar, and on screen, it is picturized on Moti Sagar and Manju. Moti Sagar plays the role of Motilal’s son in this movie. Motilal leaves his children and comes to live in a village. After some time, one of his sons, Moti Sagar, disillusioned with his own life in his own ways, also follows him and starts to live with his father in the village. Here, he falls in love with a village girls, Radha, played by actress Manju.

It may be difficult to imagine today, but Indians actually idolised national leaders in the past. Bollywood romantic songs are reputed to be sung while running around trees. But how do the hero and heroine reach there in the first place ? In case they are rich, they have a car to reach there, but there is nothing romantic in that. It is far more romantic when the hero is driving a motor bike and the lady seated behind is clinging on to him with her arms strategically placed on hero’s body.
