“Chor Ho To Aisaa-1978” was directed by Ravi Tandon for ‘N.P. International, Bombay’. It had Shatrughan Sinha, Reena Roy, Pran, Madan Puri, Anwar Hussain, Birbal, Sulochana, Baldev Khosa, Mac Mohan, Shabana, Ranveer Raj, Hareesh, Vandana Shastri, Jankidas, Jagdish Raj, Vikas Anand, Azad, Rajan Kapoor, Master Raju and others. Raza Murad, Bindu and Rajendra Nath had special appearances in this movie. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 20.04.1978. This movie has four songs written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and R.D Burman was the composer for this movie. Asha Bhonsle, Hemant Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi and Manna Dey were the singers for the songs in this movie.

Quite a few of them were successful and one prominent singer amongst them is Anuradha Paudwal. The very name brings to memory her popular stint in singing filmi and NFS especially bhajans. “Andhaa Kanoon” (1983) was a movie that was produced by A. Purnachandra Rao & directed by T. Rama Rao. Its music was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyricist was Anand Bakshi. Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, S.P. Balasubramaniam & Baby Rajeshwari were the playback singer used for the eight songs of the film of which one song Rote rote hansna seekho hanste hanste ronaa was a multi-part song; of which Kishore Kumar had a happy & sad version as also Baby Rajeshwari who got to sing a few lines of the song.

Hullo Atuldom
Before beginning this post, I googled to check out movies starring Sunil Dutt that has music by Laxmikant- Pyarelal. The reason for this search was to remember Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar (of the L-P duo) who passed away on 25th May 1998 & Sunil Dutt who left this mortal world on the same date in 2005. Like on previous occasions, the first result from Google was the 1967 hit ‘Milan’. Of course that is a movie that has long been YYIIPPEEEEd on the blog.
A hunt through the films starring Sunil Dutt helped me dig out a film that released in 1980.

“Lakshmi” (1982) which was directed by B. S. Thapa; produced by Raja Desai & Raja Roy.
The story was revolving around Reena Roy’s character -Lakshmi; Raj Babbar played her husband Vijay Singh & son Ajay Singh. Ranjeet played a pimp who has a change of heart & emotion when Lakshmi addresses him as ‘Bhaiyya’ & pleads him to help her keep herself ‘GANGA KI TARAH PAVITRA’ inspite of being a courtesan. Nadira played the owner of the ‘Kotha’ where Lakshmi takes refuge in her bid to escape goons. She also has a change of thinking & heart when she sees Ranjeet standing up for Lakshmi when Kadar Khan (in a guest appearance)-playing a daku- tries to molest her. Nadira eventually takes sanyaas but not before seeing Lakshmi give birth to her daughter (she was pregnant with her second child when she had landed at the kotha)

“Sanam Teri Kasam” (1982) was a film that was produced by Barkha Roy & directed by Narendra Bedi. It had music by RD Burman for songs written by Gulshan Bawra. The cast was headed by Reena Roy- Kamal Haasan- Kadar Khan with Jeevan, Ranjeet, Seema Deo, Jagdeep, Guddi Maruti, Birbal, Viju Khote, Raj Kishore, Bhagwandada, Mala Jaggi etc in the supporting cast. Mahesh Anand (who later married Barkha Roy) made his debut in this film, his dance moves were used in the title sequence. Kamal Kapoor had a guest appearance.
