YouTube is an American social media and online video sharing platform owned by Google. It is an amazing tool that helps us in our blogging expedition. Based on our previous search history, it keeps suggesting links to videos.
That means, for followers of ATULSONGADAY, YouTube will keep suggesting videos of Hindi Fillum Sangeet. The suggestions may also be based on any particular actor, movie or artist, specially if we have looked up for songs of the concerned artist.
So, as I was browsing through YouTube yesterday, I came across a song which had Sunny Deol trying to shake a leg in tandem with Sridevi for a song that was playbacked (I am sure there is no such word in the English dictionary) by Suresh Wadkar and Asha Bhosle. It had Meenakshi Seshadri & Anil Kapoor, standing among the people who were watching the proceedings. On looking up for details, on our blog of course, I found that it has found its place on the blog in 2022 with this post by Avinashji.

Today’s song is from a C grade stunt film Khooni Khazana-1965. The film was directed by A.Shamshir and the music was by S.Kishen. The cast included Vijaya Chaudhari ( real name Qurasha Begum), Sudhir, Bhagwan, Madan Puri, Shaikh Mukhtar, Bela Bose, Jeevan Kala, Heera Sawant and many other small-time actors. This C grade film was among the last few stunt action films, which were on their way to the end of their era.
I was a great fan and admirer of C grade action/stunt/costume films from my young age. The decorative sets and the unusually long, shining and attractive costumes in the films, the daredevil stunts and the hand or the sword fighting in these films impressed me. Unfortunately, as I grew older, the number of such films was reducing and by the time I almost stopped running after films by the 1970 beginning, C grade action, stunt and Costume films almost disappeared from the theatres. Perhaps their regular audience thinned out or the stuntmen became old or producers of such films turned to other more respectable Genres. Whatever the reason, reality was that the end of such films had occurred !

Hello everyone!
It has been SUCH a long time since my last post here that I’ve forgotten how to even write posts.
So this one will most probably be a short one, unlike my past marathon posts.
I say “most probably” because I might intend a short post, but once I start writing, my thoughts end up having a life of their own. I would be an editor’s worst nightmare. 😊

Today’s song is from the film Piya Milan-1958.
The 50’s decade was full of a deluge of films from the south. After S.S.Vasan proved that it was possible to capture the All India Hindi Audience market for South-made films, there was a mad rush and almost all major and minor film companies from south tried to get at least a small piece of the “Hindi Audience Cake” for their films. Films came in the shapes of Bilinguals, remakes and dubbed ones. Bilinguals – when a film is made in 2 languages at a time, one language being Hindi, remakes were new Hindi films made on old Hit films of South Indian languages. Dubbed films were films made in the southern language, with a sound track of Hindi language.

Regulars on the blog are aware that I am very fond of Qawwaalees from our Hindi films and I have been presenting them whenever I find an opportunity to do so. Also I try to bring Qawwaalee songs here that are lesser heard or never heard songs, whenever I came across such songs.

Its star cast included Rakesh Pandey, Nazneen, Madhu Malini, Iftekhar, Raza Murad, Suresh, Abhi Bhattacharya, Leela Mishra, Tun Tun, Mushtaq Merchant, Romeo, Rajrani, Vishva Mehra, Madhumati, Seema Kapoor, Sujata, Poonam, Uma Dutt, Devender and others. “Harishchandra Taramati-1963” was directed by B.K. Adarsh for ‘Adarshlok, Bombay’. It was a movie of mythological genre. It had Prithviraj Kapoor, Jaimala, B.M. Vyas, Tiwari, P. Kailash, Naazi, Helen, Ulhas, Babu Raje, Nasreen, Saraswati, child artiste Babloo and others. Story of this movie was written by Pandit Madhur and Vishwanath Pandey and screenplay was written by Naval Mathur. Dialogue writing was by Adarsh himself. The editing of this movie was done by I.M. Kunnu. Geet Kosh mentions eight songs for this movie (including one three part song). As mentioned above Kavi Pradeep wrote all songs for this movie. Music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. “Harishchandra Taramati-1963” is the only movie where lyricist Kavi Pradeep and composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal came together and collaborated musically.

‘Taraana-1979’ was directed by Deepak Bahri for ‘Chanda Pictures’. It was presented by Rajshri Productions and produced by Tarachand Barjatya. Living upto the name of the production house this movie too gives us a clean, musical, family entertainer movie. This is a nice movie having a nice story line of ‘love’ and including sub-plots of ‘lost and found’ story, and ‘wealthy and poor’ conflict to it. The director of this movie Deepak Bahri has some good films to his name. These include movies like ‘Agent Vinod-1977’, ‘Ham Se Hain Zamaana-1983’, ‘Ustaadi Ustaad Se-1982’, ‘Woh Jo Haseenaa-1983’ and others.
