Today (26 january 2014) is the 65th Republic day of India. It is easily the most important red letter day in the annals of independent India because India became a democratic republic on this day. Republic day also stresses the fact that India represents unity in diversity and that Indians, for all their diverse backgrounds can live and work with their fellow countrymen in harmony.
