Fareed Tonki’s “Raste Alag-Alag Hain Thikaana To Ek Hai” is my all-time favourite lyrical message of religious tolerance, harmony and mutual respect. It drives home the poignant truism for the faithful that God, by whichever name, is after all One.

No other information is available.

Hullo to all in Atuldom

So now we are all busy discussing the pros and cons of the demonetisation on our WhatsApp group. We are also having a fair number of jokes on the subject. But as our dear thandapani mentioned last week when our PM dropped the demonetisation bomb (as I like to call it) I have also decided to wait and watch for the rush at the banks and cash ATMs. At such a time a few songs ran through my mind. Let us have one of them today.

Today (16 novermber 2016) is the 49th death anniversary of Roshan (14 july 1917- 16 november 1967). He had died at the age of just 50 when he was at the zenith of his career. His untimely death, and also the untimely death of several other stalwards of HFM within a few years (Shailendra, Shakeel Badayuni, Jaikishan etc) marked the beginning of the end of the golden era of HFM.

Roshan had made his debut as a music director with “Neki Aur Badi”(1949). The movie had flopped and Roshan himself was so disappointed that he entertained thoughts of committing suicide. Kidar Sharma, his mentor gave him another assignment namely “Baawre Nain” (1951). This movie was a box office success and its music was well received and that gave Roshan a foothold in the industry. He established himself in the industry and enriched HFM with some memorable compositions.
