Alphabetical list of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice- Part XV
(Actresses whose name begin with the letter P)
In the first thirteen episodes of the series, we listed actresses whose names begin with the first thirteen letters of the alphabet (A to N) and who had lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. Then we went on to cover a song that was lip synced by another acresses whose name began with the same letter and who had not lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog.
The exercise of finding a “new” actress whose name begins with a particular letter is being increasingly difficult. The three “new” actresses who made their debuts in the blog (as far as lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice is concerned) were Anju Mahendru, Bhanupriya,Chandrakala,Divya Bharati, Ekta,Farheen,Gulnar Irani,Harsha Mehra,Isha Koppikar,Jasmine,Khushboo, Laila,Madhavi and Namita Chandra.
In this episode, we arrive at the fourteenth letter O. I had mentioned it in the previous post that actresses whose names begin with O are almost non existent, not only in India, but also in most parts of the world. So, we draw a blank when it is time to discuss actresses whose names begin with O. So we move on the the next letter of the alphabet, namely P. Unlike O, P throws up a sizeable number of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. I counted as many as 22 actresses whose name begin with P and who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. The list includes some famous names as we will as some names that few people may have heard of.

We can notice that Asha Bhonsle has sung by well known actresses viz Padmini, Parveen Babi, Poonam dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure, Padma Khanna etc and also for obscure actresses such as Pushlatha, Priya Arora etc.
Our inhouse researcher Sadanand Kamath jee recently introduced “new” P actresses, viz Priya Tendulkar and Priya Arora to the blog. Despite that, I had a few other P actresses available for me to consider. These names were provided to me by Sadanand Kamath jee as well as Prakash Chandra. When I am spoilt for choice like this then I listen to these songs and try to pick a song that sounds catchy to the ears. When I went through the suggested songs, the first song sounded very cheap and mediocre, the second sound was average. It was the third song that I liked immensely. It was this song that Sadanand Kamath jee originally wanted to cover in the blog but then left it for me to cover under the letter P and covered another actress from the same movie. I am thankful to him to leave this song for me. Prakashchandra was under the impression that this actress was already represented in the blog. When he realised that she was not represented, he too suggested this and other songs from the same movie.
The song that I zeroed in is from “Kal Ki aawaaz”(1992). ‘Kal Kee Aawaaz’ (1992) was jointly produced and directed by B R Chopra and Ravi Chopra. The movie had Dharmendra, Raj Babbar, Amrita Singh, Neena Gupta, Fareeda Jalal, Pratibha Sinha, Rohit Bhatia (Debutant), Gufi Paintal, Girija Shankar, Puneet Issar, Arjun etc. This movie, the last film directed by B R Chopra, was apparently a sequel of their own hit movie ‘Aaj Kee Aawaaz’ (1984).

Here is this song from “Kal Ki Aawaaz”(1992). This song is sung by Kumar Sanu and Asha Bhonsle. The song is picturised on Rohit Bhatia and Pratibha Sinha. Sameer is the lyricist. Music is composed by Nadeem Shrawan.
It is a nice and hummable song that I heard for the first time only just now. With this song, Pratibha Sinha (daughter of Mala Sinha) joins the ranks of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. Curiously, her mother Mala Sinha had lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice as far back as in 1950s itself, more than three decades ago.
With the letter P done and dusted, the next letter of alphabet is Q. But Q, like the letter O, that preceded the letter P, offers us no actresses. So, the next letter of the alphaabet that we will take up in the next episode of this series will be the letter R. The letter R offers us nearly the same number of actresses that we had under the letter P in this article. So the next part of the series is going to be as interesting and informative as this part where we will have a list of some well known as well as some forgotten actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice.

Thanks for giving details of additional songs. I have added Padma Chavan to the list. The song of “Vansh” (1992) mentioned by you is sung by Lata Mangeshkar, though.
