This article touches upon “blog ten year challenge (2009-2019)” but this article is not part of that series. It is not possible to post an article in this series Today (16 march 2019), because movies of all the songs (all six of them) that were covered ten years ago (on 16 march 2009) have already been YIPPEED by now. 🙂

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 17

‘Joshila-1973’ is another movie which I remember to have watched around end of seventies. It was screened during the weekly screening of movies at our ‘colony club’ where we stayed at that time. I never got a chance to watch it again. However, its heart touching song ‘Kiska rasta dekhe ai dil ai saudaayi’ became a permanent memory associated with this movie. This also became to be the most popular and famous song from this movie. Very aptly this movie was launched on this blog with this Kishore Kumar song on 15.03.2009.

Today’s song is from the film ‘Hatimtai ki Beti’ (1955).
When I was very young and had just started taking interest in reading books and seeing films, I always felt that HATIMTAI is a girl’s name. This was because “Tai” in Marathi, means Didi in Hindi. It was only after I read the book “Arabian Night stories”, that I was surprised that Hatimtai was a Male name !

This “social” (1972)movie had Dharmendra, Hema malini, Nadira, Sajjan, Premnath, Prem Chopra, Johnny Walkar, Durga Khote, Rajan Haksar, HeeraLal, Lata Sinha, Madhup Sharma, Jankidass, Bhushan Tiwari, Kamaldeep, C.S.Dubey, Pal Sharma, Bindu, Manmohan, Helen etc in it.

Produced and directed by Nanubhai Vakil, under his own banner- Roshan Pictures, it was a costume drama film,eulogising the greatness of Islam and how sincere 5-time Namaz pleases Allah- the Supreme power.The 10 songs of the film were written by Shevan Rizvi and were composed by the One Film Music Director S Qureshi.

“Aanchal Ke Phool”(1968) is released 50 years ago and that makes it a recent movie by the standards of this blog. 🙂 Nevertheless, little is known about this movie because it was a B grade movie and it failed to do well at the box office.

Today’s song is from film Gauri-1943. It was a film made by Ranjit Movietone. The Lyrics, Story and Screenplay as well as the Direction was by Kidar Sharma. The cast of the film was Prithviraj Kapoor, Shamim, Monica Desai, Rajkumari Shukla, Brijmala, Amarnath etc etc.
The making of film Gauri-1943 had a big story behind it. This is described in great details by Kidar Sharma himself, in his autobiography ” The one and Lonely Kidar Sharma”. We will,however, discuss this in an abridged version here.
