Yesterday (24 April 2023), I was on an overdrive, as far as posting of articles in the blog was concerned. I ended up posting as many as eight articles on that day. Posting eight articles in a day was fairly common in the blog one decade ago. For instance, during april 2013, eight articles were covered on ten days and nine articles were covered on another four days. That year saw eight songs posted on as many as 36 days (10% of the days in that year). But things are different now a days. During the last seven years, we have touched this figure of eight songs in a day only four times !

Today’s song is from a film called Gun Fight aka Bandookbaaz-1960. The film makes a Debut on this Blog.
Funniest part is that the HFGK describes it as a ” Costume film”. Generally, a Costume film is a film in which you see a King, Queen, Vazier or some Historical figures wearing odd, shining and elaborate dresses and who live in big palaces with hundreds of servants who come running after a clap ( a call bell provided to all by God !) of hands. This film is nothing of this sort. All the characters in this film wear normal clothes, live in ordinary houses and lead routine lives. I have seen this film, in the times when such films were in the dying stages. The cast of the film consists of names usually found in a C grade stunt film… Niloufer, Anjum, Moti (Dog), Baagla, Funny Walker, Maqbool, Bilali, Premi, Mohd. Agha, Shaukat, Sharan Asi, Moosa, Mohd. Sandow etc. etc. But it was not a stunt film either.

As a tribute to him, today I am presenting a song penned by him from an ‘un-released’ movie ‘Jitni Door Utne Paas-1960’.

Music lovers and regulars on the blog are aware that this blog already has more than 17500 song-posts by now. Many of them are surely aware that we still have a long way to go in bringing many of the songs ‘including from the golden period of HFM’ here on the blog. These songs could well be hidden gems lost with the passage of time despite being ‘good compositions’ because they could not become popular. But then the competition at that time was of a very high class !! So many talented persons (now considered legends) were active at the same time competing for the same space!!
