Our Blog has achieved a substantial milestone of completing 20000 posts with Sudhir ji’s post on a rare song, gham kaa banoge nishaana. When I had joined the bandwagon sometime in July 2011, the Blog had just completed 4000 songs in about 3 years. At that time, I had never imagined that the Blog would attain even a milestone of 10000 articles because it would have been a long haul during which the interest of the owner of the Blog (Atul ji) and the guest writers may wane because they may have to prioritise other important commitments. In the event, I have been proved wrong. Over the period of time, not only Atul ji has been keeping his interest in the Blog intact, but more guest writers have also joined the bandwagon making Atul ji’s posts appearing more as a ‘guest’ post while some of the guest writers have turned regular contributors on a voluntary basis. Furthermore, there is a phenomenal increase to the visitors of the Blog which is currently in the threshold of crossing 18 million in 18 years, that is, an average of one million a year.

Pancham’s Music – Eighties-to-Nineties (1981-1994…) Duets-11
Today’s duet composition by Rahul Dev Burman is from the 1993 movie ‘Aaja Meri Jaan’. This movie was directed by Ketan Anand for ‘Gulshan Kumar’s ‘Super Cassette Industries’. Gulshan Kumar was the producer of this movie which introduced his younger brother Krishan Kumar. Actress Tanya Singh (daughter of musician Ajit Singh) made her debut in this movie and Krishan Kumar got married to her later.
The movie had Krishan Kumar, Tanya Singh, Shammi Kapoor, Prem Chopra, Pran, Deven Verma, Poonam Dasgupta, Manohar Singh, Satish Shah, Rakesh Bedi, Girish Malik, Sunil Lahiri, Virendra Razdan, Shiva Sagar, Govind Namdeo, Durga Jasraj, Shabnam, Malvika Arora, Neelima, Viju Khote, Vijay Kashyap, Johar, Arun Bali, Nasir Shaikh, Dinesh Balraj, Vijay Korde, Ritesh Pandey, Purnendu Shekhar, Ghanshyam, Karishma, Rajendra, Rohit K., Hashim Khan, Jaypee Barot and others. This movie’s story happens on a cruise ship. Cruise ship travel is still out of affordability area for the common people in India. I do not know anyone who does this type of travel or holidays. The way of life involving Yachts, Marinas and Cruise ships is very foreign to India. I saw one cruise ship in Liverpool. I saw some people who were from that ship roaming around the harbour area, with the Beatles museum, and the eateries, a very ordinary boat ride around the inner harbour/backwaters. They stood out as they were not casual tourists. At least I thought so, as I pride myself on my powers of observation and differentiation.

Film “Dil hai ke manta nahi”(1991) was another one of Mahesh Bhat movies, made like a “Chitrahaar”, with ten songs, including one double version song. From what I see in the trivia about this film, it is about adaptations galore. The story is adapted from American film “It happened one night”(1934), which is a tradition of sorts with hindi film right from early 50’s.
A few other Hindi films were also inspired by the same film – “Nadan” (1951), “Chori Chori” (1956), “Nau Do Gyarah” (1957), “Solva Saal”(1958) and “Basant” (1960). Similar plots were used in other Indian films as well – “Chaowa Pawa” (1959) in Bengali, “Chandhrodhayam”(1966) and “Kadhal Rojave” (2000) in Tamil, and “Hudugaata” (2007) in Kannada.

Nadeem Shravan composed the music for this movie where all the five songs this movie has were penned by Kavi Pradeep. Hullo Atuldom
“Bad Aur Badnaam” (1984) which was produced & written by K.D. Shorey and directed by Firoze Chinoye, had music by Laxmikant- Pyarelal for songs that were written by Anand Bakshi. Lata Mangeshkar, Shabbir Kumar, Suresh Wadkar, Anuradha Paudwal & Shailendra Singh were the playback singers used for the six songs.
The film’s cast was headed by Parveen Babi, Sanjeev Kumar, Anita Raaj and Shatrughan Sinha. Dr. Shreeram Lagoo, Kadar Khan, Jagdeep, Urmila Bhatt, Madhu Malini, Madhu Malhotra, Kamal Kapoor, Jagdish Raj (was not a cop in this film), Raj Mehra, Ram Mohan, Pinchoo Kapoor, Tom Alter and I. S. Johar played important supporting characters.

The cast of this movie has Avinash Wadhawan, Ashwini Bhave, debutant actor Deepak Saraf, with Ashok Saraf and Rakesh Bedi. They were supported by Raj Hans, Brando Bakshi, Kunika, Vikas Anand, Ghanshyam, Leena Kamath, Sunanda, A.K. Hangal, Alok Nath and Pran. Screenplay of this movie was written by Gyan Dev Agnihotri, who also wrote the dialogues for this movie with Soulat Hussain. Editing of this movie was done by the famous editors’ duo Waman Bhonsle and Gurudutt Shirali.
Since the music director of this movie Arun Paudwal passed away during the making of this movie and before it’s release, this movie was dedicated to his memory.
